• 192,676 public schools, with enormous social, economic, and cultural differences;
• 35.8 million students in elementary school, 32.4 million (90.5%) study in public schools and only 3.4 million (9.5%) in private schools. This extends to high school, where
82.4 % are in public schools.
Education in Brazil
The big challenge to the public schools in Brazil since the 90’s, when the education access was universalized, is to increase the quality standard
(PISA 2014 – out of 76 countries, Brazil is around 60th ranking position)
Based on a survey 2014, one out of three Brazilian children (9-10-year-olds) internet users accessed the Internet on the move (33%), a figure higher than countries such as Romania (15%), Ireland (13%), Portugal (13%) and Belgium (11%).
At school one-third of Brazilian children use the Internet (36%)
96% of the teachers use digital materials, but they would like to know how to create new methodologies

Education in Brazil
Instead of restricting children’s access to the internet, Brazilian schools should value the activity and invest in this technology, allowing
children to fully explore the potential of the internet and learn the skills for safe Internet use
Contexto atual
Tecnologia digital chega às escolas, porém a
metodologia tradicional se mantém nos
espaços, tempos e formatos
Contexto desejado
Aluno como ator fundamental do processo
educacional, opinando, revelando suas dificuldades e propondo soluções em uma ação
coletiva.
Formação de professores
COMO É NORMALMENTE
Top-down
COMO ACREDITAMOS QUE DEVE SERBottom-up
