com o intuito de questionar ou confirmar algo.

O que são as TAG QUESTIONS?

Formal:Você gosta dela, não gosta?Você não gosta dela, gosta?Eles foram pra festa, não foram?Eles não foram pra festa, foram?

1º As Tag Questions sempre devem vir após a

vígula.

Você é Americano, não é?

You are American, aren’t you?

They didn’t go to the party, did they?

You study English, don’t you?

She is Brazilian, isn’t she?

They will travel next week, won’t they?

Regras básicas de Tag Questions

2º Se a oração principal estiver na afirmativa, a Tag Question deverá esta na negativa e vice-versa.

She is Brazilian, isn’t she?

She isn’t Brazilian, is she?

Sempre usamos o pronome correspondente ao da frase principal na Tag question:

He can drive, can’t he?

Verbo To be: IS, ARE, WAS, WERE.

- The movie is fun, isn’t it?

- You’re married, aren’t you?

- He was studying English, wasn’t he?

- Bill and Lucy were in the party, weren’t

Podemos fazer as Tag Questions com os seguintes verbos/auxiliares:

Verbos Modais: CAN, COULD, SHOULD, MUST, ...

- You can speak French, can’t you?

- He couldn’t swim when he was 5 years old,

could he?

- She shouln’t go to the party, should she?

- You must see the doctor, mustn’t you?

Muitas vezes é necessário antes de tudo perceber em que tempo verbal se encontra a oração principal, para assim saber qual auxiliar deverá ser usado na Tag Question.
