Second conditional

Its structure is formed by:

If + subject + verb in the past + subject + would + verb in the infinitiveIf she met him again, she would cry. (Se ela o encontrasse novamente, choraria.)

If I were you, I wouldn’t go. (Se eu fosse você, não iria.)

The opposite can happen:

Subject + would + verb in the infinitive + subject + verb in the pastShe would cry, If she met him again.

Past simple

Its structure is formed by:Subject + verb in the past + complementKeith baked lots of cupcakes. (regular verb - bake)They saw her kissing another guy. (irregular verb - see)

Negative form In the negative form we add the auxiliar did + not (didn’t) and the verb comes to the infinitive.

Keith didn’t bake lots of cupcake.They didn’t see her kissing another guy.

Interrogative form In the interrogative form we start the sentence with the auxiliar Did and the verb comes to the infinitive. Did Keith bake lots of cupcakes? Yes, she did. Did they see her kissing another guy? No, they didn’t.
