Introduction

The motivation for presenting these games is associated with

healthy socialization of children, who can play outdoors with family

or with friends. Remember playing too participated in the first

years of school. The excitement you felt when the time came to

play up with older adults. When a society with restrictions on

consumption, the simplicity of the games gave great happiness.

Over time, there was a trend in this kind of toys based on the rotation and balance. New materials, new look, finishing more care, etc..

It was a challenge in the past that still persists. From the technical point of view, we stress the importance of manual dexterity and practice to be successful.

The games chosen can be associated with rotation around an axis (like the imaginary axis of the Earth).

The spinning is an object tapering, usually wood with a metal tip. It is launched with the help of a wire (known as the "spinneret"), which spins. The tops are known since antiquity, having been found clay tops, decorated, originating in Assyria.

Tops were found in excavations of Pompeii. Five centuries before Christ, a Greek poet CALLIMACHUS mentioned the name to top child popular gaming.

Top traditional, with its "spinneret". Certainly this is the most common type of spinning, found in Portugal.

The Japanese were grooves in tops, in order that these could whistle.

How to play?

• It could be played simply by individual

pleasure.

• Game of "cell", where you could win or lose the spinning. Was a circle (a meter in diameter approximately) with a risk on the floor and each player "married" a spinning inside, playing with another. The game was to play the spinning inside the "cell", on which there were, and with skill, pull it out of the “cell". If there was, was lost; the beat on the floor withdraw any other spinning there inside top redeemed was won.

Game "hunting", was to play the spinning on the floor and "hoping it" with your hand, collapsing it between your fingers. Earned who put more time with top running in hand; when the spinning stopped spinning, he “die".

There was an interesting variation of the "hunting", whereby the player playing the spinning and, without it he knocked on the floor, pushed back to the body "from" in the air.

Another modality of spinning is called "spinning finger" or "carrapeta". The spinning itself is small, and is rotated with your thumb and index fingers, without using the "spinneret".

This small spinning is ideal for enclosed spaces.

• Some examples:

Two "top finger" Japanese inspired, these tops have differential that placed to rotate in the way they were photographed, tend to turn "upside down", to rotate about its axis.

Rules

The number of players was that I could find.

The “spinning finger“ square sides, with letters on each one: RTPD. What I wanted to say exactly is:

• If you get de side with “R” – Rapa = Take it all• If you get de side with “T” – Tira = Take what you bet (5)• If you get de side with “P” – Põe = Put (2)• If you get de side with “D” – Deixa= Leave

Enjoy the game!
