Resumo Devido ao cotidiano escolar repleto de dificuldades enfrentadas pelos educadores ao ministrar suas aulas, esta Unidade Didática busca auxiliar o professor com novas alternativas para um ensino contextualizado e reflexivo de língua inglesa. O gênero escolhido para esta Unidade Didática são as letras de música, mostrando suas contribuições no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. A Unidade Didática tem por objetivo mostrar que além de divertir, as letras de música podem ser utilizadas como estratégia de ensino-aprendizagem de língua inglesa. Este gênero já vem sendo usado pelos professores como recurso para auxiliar no desenvolvimento da oralidade e ampliação do vocabulário, tornando essas atividades mais prazerosas. Este material apresenta atividades de análise crítica do discurso para auxiliar na construção da criticidade do aluno e sua interação entre elementos que são essenciais para o sucesso na aprendizagem de línguas. As atividades propostas na Unidade Didática visam facilitar a compreensão, trabalhar a análise linguística, enriquecer o vocabulário, e dessa forma, estimular e desenvolver habilidades de aprendizagem propostas pelas DCEs de Língua Estrangeira Moderna.

Prezado aluno!

Nesta Unidade Didática vamos trabalhar com o gênero textual letras de

música. Este gênero é muito rico e agradável e vai além de divertir, também é

uma fonte para ampliarmos nosso conhecimento em língua inglesa. Veremos

suas características e contexto de produção. Vamos estudar um dos gêneros

musicais mais populares da história o rock and roll, assim como suas origens e as

principais bandas que tornaram este gênero famoso no mundo todo. Tudo isso

por meio de atividades de pesquisa, análise e discussão.

Caro Professor!

Esta Unidade didática é a Produção Didático-pedagógica realizada durante o

Programa de Desenvolvimento Educacional (PDE) da Secretaria de Estado de

Educação do Paraná. Seu objetivo é auxiliar o professor PDE na implementação

do Projeto de Intervenção Pedagógica na escola.

O cotidiano das escolas públicas é repleto de obstáculos que atrapalham o

processo de ensino aprendizagem. Pela experiência adquirida ao longo dos anos,

percebemos que ainda há muitas dificuldades enfrentadas pelos professores em

sala de aula como o desinteresse e a falta de empenho na realização das tarefas

por parte dos alunos, fatores que levam à desvalorização da disciplina.

Pensando nesse contexto, a escolha do tema letras de música é uma

alternativa que procura reverter esse quadro, tornando as aulas mais atrativas e

motivantes para o desenvolvimento do educando, em atividades orais, como

confirmam as palavras de Cristóvão (2007, apud AUDI e FERRAZ, 2013) que

defende que

as músicas são exemplo de uma linguagem autêntica, memorável e rítmica. [...] a) as músicas são exemplos acessíveis de inglês oral; b) as rimas permitem aos alunos

exercícios de identificação de sons similares; c) a atmosfera agradável que a musicalidade traz faz com que o aluno sinta-se mais a vontade com o trabalho de pronúncia; d) a identificação das sílabas fortes e fracas, ajuda na pronúncia da língua. (p. 66).

A música possui grande prestígio entre os adolescentes, pois em sua rotina

eles cultivam o hábito de ouvir e cantar músicas em inglês, independentemente

de estarem pronunciando as frases corretamente ou de saberem sobre a

mensagem que lhes é repassada. A partir das letras de música, há a possibilidade

de promover uma reflexão mais aprofundada sobre temas presentes no cotidiano

dos jovens. Cabe, então, ao educador elaborar tarefas para que seus alunos

possam ler um texto criticamente. Promover um estudo de língua inglesa voltado

para oralidade e reflexão é uma alternativa que foge ao ensino tradicional,

procurando mostrar como o ensino por meio do gênero textual letras de música

pode ser aplicado no Ensino Fundamental de maneira a estimular o interesse pela

língua inglesa.

Teacher: inicie os trabalhos com as questões a seguir, elas visam

despertar a curiosidade dos alunos em relação ao texto que explica as

origens do rock. As questões devem ser feitas oralmente para

estimular a discussão.

Early "Rock And Roll"

Rock music originated in the United States in the 50s and grew from various other American music forms, including blues, country and jazz. In its earliest incarnation, musicians such as Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis were playing edgier and more upbeat music than their predecessors.

The most iconic music figure of the 50‟s was of course Elvis Presley. Renowned as „The King of Rock ‟n Roll, he launched his career in 1954 showing to the world his rockabilly subgenre. He was adored by the young for his handsome looks and fantastic music and brought Rock n‟ Roll into the households of the 50‟s. The rocker‟s most successful so far, Elvis Presley would release the album in 1956, Heartbreaker Hotel, reaching extraordinary sales.

The British Invasion

The British Invasion, which began in 1964, marked a massive entrance of British rock bands into mainstream American music. First the Beatles, the most successful rock band of all time, bursts in the parades in Europe and the United States, and then others like the Rolling Stones, the Animals and the Kinks, along with dozens of other groups, all went from unknown to enormously popular in America in a two-year period beginning in 1964. Many of these bands, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds (fronted by a then little-known gentleman named Eric Clapton), cited American blues as a major musical influence.

The Rock And Roll Lifestyle

Rock and Roll did more than change the way Americans and the rest of the world listened to music. It introduced a whole new culture that included fashion trends, new forms of slang and new lifestyles. It helped legitimize the civil rights movement and popularized many illegal drugs. From the beginning, many rock and roll stars have used their influence to try to better the world. John Lennon held a bed-in in 1969, when he and his wife Yoko Ono sat in bed for two weeks in protest of the Vietnam War. In 1985, acts like the Who, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys and Queen gathered for Live Aid, which raised money for famine relief in Africa.

Rock and Roll continued to evolve in the following decades, seeing the rise of arena rock and punk rock in the 70s, plus heavy metal in the 80s and grunge and pop-punk in the 90s. Although rock is now considered mainstream, it still holds on to its rebellious traces.

Rock in Brazil

The first success of the Brazilian rock was in the voice of a singer Celly Campello burst on the radio with hits Banho de Lua e Estúpido Cupido, in the early 1960s. In the middle of this decade, the Jovem Guarda arises with singers as Roberto Carlos, Erasmo Carlos and Wanderléa. With romantic and fast pace lyrics, begins to success among young people.

Did you know that?

Last Kiss "is a song written by Wayne Cochran in 1962 and originally performed by Wayne Cochran & the CC Riders, having music by this time a small success.

The song was later recorded by various international bands; being the biggest success of the single Last Kiss Pearl Jam.

Wayne Cochran was inspired by the accident on December 22, 1962, in Barnesville Georgia. The young Jeanette Clark and L. Hancock, who was the driver, both got 16, and three Others friends were in a 1954 Chevrolet when hit a truck carrying wood. Clark, Hancock, and another friend died; Cochran dedicated the song to Jeanette Clark.

The song achieved worldwide popularity with its played by Pearl Jam version. It was initially released in the compilation No Boundaries: A Benefit for the Kosovar Refugees, on behalf of refugees.

Language Structure Na música Last Kiss o autor utilizou em seus versos palavras para se referir ao passado.

Ex: Took- levou, tirou Kissed- beijou

Estas palavras estão no Simple Past que é construído da seguinte forma: Verbos regulares – são formados acrescentando-se Ed à forma infinitiva dos verbos. Ex:

Verbos terminados em ( e ) recebem apenas d:

Verbos terminados em y precedido de consoante elimina-se o y e acrescenta-se – ied:

OBS: Em frases interrogativas e negativas com o verbo to be não se usa o

auxiliar did. Deve-se usar o próprio verbo.

Was é usado para as pessoas do singular: I, he, she e it.

Were é usado para as pessoas do plural: You, we, they.

Student you are going to write a music stanza. Consider the following tips:

• Try to write about themes like violence, use of drugs, racism, etc.

• You can use the words from the songs studied in this UD or from the others

songs that you like;

• Rhyme is very important in a music stanza; try to use a rhyme in your stanza;

• It´s important to repeat words to give rhythm;

• Write another version for a stanza of music that you like;

• Make short verses;

• Show your stanza for your classmates and sing it with your friends;.
