Texto 1: THE ATHEIST AND THE BEAR

O ateu e o urso.

An atheist was walking through the woods one day in Alaska,

What a powerful river! What beautiful animals!" he said toQue rio poderoso! Que animais bonitos! Ele disse para

himself. As he was walking alongside the river, he heard aele mesmo. Enquanto ele estava andando ao longo do rio, ele

rustling in the bushes behind him. Turning to look, he saw a

13 foot Kodiak bear beginning to charge towards him.

He ran as fast as he could down the path. He looked overhis shoulder and saw that the bear was rapidly closing onhim. Somehow, he ran even faster, so scared that tearscame to his eyes. He looked again and the bear was evencloser. His heart pounding in his chest, he tried to run fasteryet.

But alas, he tripped and fell to the ground. As he rolled overto pick himself up, the bear was right over him, reaching forhim with its left paw and raising its right paw to strike him."OH MY GOD!..."

Time stopped.The bear froze.The forest was silent.Even the river stopped moving...

As a brilliant light shone upon the man, a thunderous voice came from all around,

"YOU DENY MY EXISTENCE FOR ALL THESE YEARS,TEACH OTHERS THAT I DON'T EXIST AND EVENCREDIT CREATION TO SOME COSMIC ACCIDENT.DO YOU EXPECT ME TO HELP YOU OUT OF THISPREDICAMENT? AM I TO COUNT YOU AS A BELIEVER?"

Difficult as it was, the atheist looked directly into the light and said, "It would be hypocriticalto ask to bea Christian after all these years, but perhaps you could make the bear aChristian?"

"VERY WELL." Said God.

The light went out.The river ran.The sounds of the forest resumed.

.....and the bear dropped down on his knees,brought both paws together, bowed his headand spoke:

"Lord,! thank you for this food which I am about to receive."

ouviu a rustling nos arbustos atrs dele. Girando para olhar, viu acomeo do urso de um Kodiak de 13 ps a carregar para ele. Funcionouto rapidamente como poderia traga o trajeto. Olhou sobre seus ombro eserra que o urso fechava rpidamente sobre ele. De algum modo,funcionou mesmo mais rapidamente, scared assim que rasgos veio a seusolhos. Olhou outra vez e o urso era uniforme mais perto. Seu poundingdo corao em sua caixa, tentou funcionar mais rapidamente ainda. Masalas, tropeou e caiu terra. Como rolou sobre para escolher-se acimahimself, o urso era excesso direito ele, alcanando para ele com seupaw esquerdo e levantamento de seu paw direito golpe-lo. OH MEUDEUS! Tempo parado. O urso congelado. A floresta era silenciosa.Mesmo o rio parou de mover-se Enquanto uma luz brilhante brilhou emcima do homem, uma voz thunderous veio de toda ao redor, VOC NEGAMINHA EXISTNCIA POR TODOS ESTES ANOS, ENSINAR A OUTROS QUE EU NOEXISTO E NO NIVELO CREDITAR A CRIAO A ALGUM ACIDENTE COSMIC. VOCESPERA-ME AJUDAR-LHE FORA DESTE PREDICAMENT? SOU EU PARA CONT-LO COMOUM BELIEVER? Por mais difcil que fosse, o atheist olhadodiretamente na luz e dito, seria hypocritical perguntar ao cristo dobea aps todos estes anos, mas talvez voc poderia fazer ao urso umcristo? MUITO BEM. Deus dito. A luz saiu. O rio funcionou. Os sonsda floresta recomearam. ..... e o urso deixou cair para baixo em seusjoelhos, trouxe ambos os paws junto, curvado sua cabea e raio:Senhor! obrigado para este alimento que eu estou a ponto de receber.
