Mafalda ArnauthMafalda Arnauth’s new disc, entitled “Fadas”, is a clear tribute to the women who have influenced her artistic journey, and on it she chooses to evoke some of these voices. Amália Rodrigues, Hermínia Silva, Fernanda Baptista, Celeste Rodrigues and Beatriz da Conceição are just some of these names. “Fadas” is a tribute to the words and songs that have made Fado into one of the prime forms of expression of Portuguese culture.
O novo disco de Mafalda Arnauth, de seu nome “Fadas”, é um verdadeiro tributo às mulheres que influenciaram o seu percurso de artista, escolhendo nele cantar algumas dessas vozes. Albufeira is hosting one of the key events in the month of June. The Oura area will be inundated by the SuMMER PARADE, a street show that will be taking over one of the city’s main nightlife areas. The SuMMER PARADE will be full of surprises with a series of different shows overflowing with colour, light and sound, blending multimedia and street artists to create a unique atmosphere. 1 dia de Marionetas no Algarve
Este espectáculo resulta da recolha etnográfica do teatro popular português de fantoches de luva. Representado há cerca de 3 séculos por companhias ou bonecreiros solitários, que percorriam o país alegrando feiras, praias e romarias, foi-se perdendo ao longo dos tempos, estando apenas na memória da infância de uma geração mais velha. Da tradição europeia de fantoches populares, o Teatro D. Roberto é aquele que se apresenta mais depurado de artifícios cénicos, vivendo apenas dos personagens e da acção que se desenvolve entre eles.
This show is the result of an ethnographic collection from the popular Portuguese theatre of glove puppets. Performed about three centuries ago by companies or lone puppeteers who travelled the length of the country entertaining at fairs, beaches and festivals, it gradually got lost over time, remaining only in the childhood memories of an older generation. From the European tradition of popular puppets, the Teatro D. Roberto has little need for stagecraft, depending purely on the characters and the action that develops between them.

«A partir da presença inabitual das personagens/marionetas de mulheres idosas realistas no espaço público, questionar a relação entre o real e o irreal, a convivência ou não entre os habitantes desconhecidos e desprevenidos, a nossa relação com as pessoas idosas na cidade moderna. Estas questões são sugeridas pela simples presença das “velhas” e dos animadores (marionetistas) num ritmo e posturas diferentes do meio e na relação entre o corpo vivo e o corpo inanimado.»
On the basis of the unaccustomed presence of realistic figures/puppets of elderly women in a public space, the relationship between the real and the unreal is questioned, the sociability or lack of it between unknown and unprepared residents, our relationship with elderly people in the modern city. These questions are suggested by the mere presence of the “old women” and the animators (puppeteers) in a rhythm and with postures that are different from their surroundings and in the relationship between the living body and the inanimate body.

The exhibition “Ten Monumental British Sculptures” is taking place at the Roman archaeological site Cerro da Vila, establishing a direct and harmonious relationship with the landscape and the architecture of the site. The aim of the exhibition is to enable the general public to enjoy and share in works of great artistic merit, belonging to the Berardo Collection, at the same time as offering a unique opportunity to visit the Cerro da Vila, an ancient Roman villa in Vilamoura. The exhibition “Ten Monumental British Sculptures” is a joint initiative by the Berardo Collection, the Portuguese Tourist Board, Turismo do Algarve, Loulé Municipal Council, Lusort and inframoura.

A exposição “Dez Monumentais Esculturas Britânicas” apresenta 10 esculturas integradas no campo arqueológico romano do Cerro da Vila, estabelecendo uma relação directa e harmoniosa com a paisagem e a arquitectura do lugar. A exposição pretende possibilitar a fruição e a partilha, com o público em geral, de obras de arte de grande valor artístico, pertencentes à Colecção Berardo, ao mesmo tempo que oferece uma oportunidade única para visitar o Cerro da Vila, antiga vila romana, em Vilamoura. A exposição “Dez Monumentais Esculturas Britânicas” é uma iniciativa da Colecção Berardo, Turismo de Portugal, Turismo do Algarve, Câmara Municipal de Loulé, Lusort e inframoura.

Colourful, joyful and alluring, the sculpture Tutti Frutti takes the shape of a huge ice-cream cone built from numerous plastic moulds normally used for playing on the beach.

To celebrate Fado, that most typical expression of traditional Portuguese culture, quorum Ballet is presenting another encounter with this musical genre. in a multiplicity of movements, sounds, sensations and sentiments, the dancers convey everything that our senses perceive and our hearts grasp with their art, extreme beauty, sensitivity and apparent ease. A creation by Daniel Cardoso that demystifies the connotations of nostalgia and melancholy embodied by Fado.

The writer and director Fernando Gomes created this beautiful story about the true significance of love and friendship, inspired by the tale of the same name by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Fernando Gomes became interested in recreating Hoffmann’s beautiful tale, which, through language that is both accessible and up-to-date, exalts the values of friendship and love and extols beneficent acts rather material goods. The journey of the two young heroes, Clara and her Nutcracker, reminds us of the importance of these values as the fundamental pillars in the character formation of youngsters.
Fernando Gomes, autor e encenador, criou esta bela jornada sobre o verdadeiro significado dos valores de amor e de amizade inspirado do conto homónimo de E.T.A.Hoffmann. Hoffmann despertou o interesse de Fernando Gomes para recriar um belo conto que, através de uma linguagem acessível e actual, eleva os valores da amizade, do amor e louva as acções benfazejas em detrimento dos bens materiais. A jornada de dois jovens heróis, Clara e o seu quebra-Nozes, relembra-nos a importância destes valores como pilares fundamentais na formação do carácter dos mais jovens.

Será convidado um chefe reconhecido para fazer demonstrações culinárias no Mercado Municipal de Olhão. Dez participantes terão oportunidade de se dirigir aos comerciantes das bancas do mercado e escolher 5 ingredientes para que o chefe improvise uma nova receita. A ideia será estimular ao máximo a participação do público e a criatividade do chefe convidado, improvisando e mantendo uma ligação mais directa com o público.
A well-known chef will be invited to do cookery demonstrations at the Olhão Municipal Market. Ten participants will be able to go to the market traders to choose five ingredients for the chef to use in improvising a new recipe. The idea will be to get maximum audience participation and stimulate the creativity of the guest chef as he improvises and interacts closely with the public.

SARRuGA é uma companhia que nasceu em 1994 pela mão de Pakito Gutiérrez. A decisão de fazer espectáculos de rua surge a partir da ideia de fazer gigantes esses pequenos insectos que apaixonam o seu criador. Essa ideia leva-o a aventurar-se num intenso estúdio de engenharia mecânica e de motricidade, para poder converter esses minúsculos insectos vivos em imensas máquinas que parecem vivas. A mobilidade das máquinas está perfeitamente concebida para que possam realizar movimentos idênticos aos insectos reais.
SARRuGA is a company which was created in 1994 by Pakito Gutiérrez. The decision to do street performances emerged from the idea of transforming those little insects that impassioned their creator into giants. This idea led him to immerse himself in intensive studies of mechanical engineering and motivity to be able to convert these tiny living creatures into immense machines which appear to be alive. The machines’ mobility is perfectly conceived so that they move in an identical way to the real insects.
