1- PRESENTATION

1.1 INTRODUCTION

The comercial brand SD Engineering is property of Sala de Desenho – Projecto e Serviços de Engenharia, Lda. moreover it has founded in December of 1995 and has its headquarters in Portugal.

SD Engineering is known as a guide and it is highlighted by its specialized engineering projects and also by its consulting engineering services, technical support and construction management. This allows SD engineering to be a natural partner that offers excelence to your project.

Besides the company concept, we are a team of specialized professionals with skils in diverse and specific areas that complement themselves. Every day we try to improve the services offered to the client.

With a wide range of participations in buildings with high importance, the implementation of SD Engineering comes from a growth strategy sustained by a big technical and technological investment internally. This allows the company to be endowed of qualified boards assuring the adequate performance and speed to the high demand of the market.

With projects in Portugal, Azores, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and Angola, the last one with high presence. The construction management is not anymore a simple task, so we implemented a new organizational structure that allows to allocate resources to Angola where we have superior boards.

2- VISION ABOUT THE PROJECT

Since each investment is a specific case and because each place has specific conditions, the project should reflect the existing conditions fo the place where it is implemented.

To analise the investment the team has diverse know-how and has as mission to use all of its know-how and values in the challenge presented by creating an adequate project.

The project team by creating unique and specific solutions will be able to transmit through the project the result of the balance and profitability of the investment, but the most important is that it will guarantee the operability of the buildings.

It is common sense that the conception of “Project in one hand, key on the other” had appeared by the increasing demand of projects that differ from the called “Common Project”, where the global concept has to comply with all the requirements of the “mother brand”, but always associated with concepts that comply with the needs of the enviroenment where they are included.

5.1 FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION CHART

the functional demands inherent to its activity. It is represented in this organization chart.

The SD Projects e Engineering, compromised with its quality principles, in the search for

better results overcoming and exceeding objectives has been investing on this process

looking for an application to the Management Quality System.

7. PARTNERSHIPS

Maintaining the objectiveness of specialization but at the same time having a vision of the

globa participation, we established parternships with entities or offices with the biggest

competence, being SD Projects e Engineering, with its partners, ready to give a global

answer to any proposed challenge.

More than the rethorical presentation, we want the relation with the works done. To do that,

we let our work to do the presentation.

/Arquitecture; or in an indirect way; or by subcontracting or partnership with expert offices,

8.1 ONGOING PROJECTS/ RECENT PROJECTS

Between the huge variety of ongoing projects/recent projects, the most important are:

Angola’s new international airport

The Angola’s new international Airport is the future international airport of the Angola’s

capital, Luanda. It is located about 30-45 Km of downtown’s southeast, in Bengo. The new

airport was planned to have a traffic of 13 million passengers per year and it will receive 12

skybridges. It will be built two lanes, one of the higher category with 4,2 Km, and the south

lane with 3,8 Km.

The airport complex has many buildings, among them the ones that stand out are the

Passengers’ Terminal (160.000 m2), the Civil Aviation Terminal (2.500m2), the Cargo agent

building (25.000m2), Catering (10.000m2) and others with the same importance. The power

supply will be approximately 20MVA.

Technological Institute of Hydrocarbons in Equatorial Guinea

The complex that will have the Institute of Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea is a center

with a practical and theoretical vocation for education, composed by a set of buildings with

particular empashis to the program’s peculiarity, due the sustainability and self sufficiency

required. Elaboration of execution projects (ongoing).

URECA Hotel – Malabo - Equatorial Guinea

Hotel complex with 100 accomodation unites

(rooms and residential buildings). Elaboration

Refriango’s Complex - Angola

Large industrial complex (the total construction area exceeds the 300.000m2). Elaboration

made by subcontracting the projects of licensing and execution with monitoring at the

construction work (ongoing).

Santiago’s Isle – Cape Verde

Project with a maritime industrial nature, which

has a quay, container storage park and the

respective buildings for support and signaling.

Participation in the project to a competition.

Tourist complex – Mar à Vista – São Vicente Island - Cape Verde

Complex that consists on the

construction of 772 apartments for

tourism, 5 commercial areas and an

hotel with 60 beds. The studies

understand the infrastructures of the

complex and installations in the

buildings standing out the self

production installations and the

application of renewable energy

installations given the sustainability

Nestlé Waters Direct - Portugal

Industrial complex located in Coruche, it

represents an investment of seven millions of

euros done by the brand. It has a capacity to

bottle 20.000 liters/hour.

Event Complex in Caldas das Rainha

The event complex in Caldas da Rainha is the instalation of a center to spread the cultural

and to be used for national and international events. It has 2 auditoriums with 150 and 660

seats, coffe concert, exhibitions, conference rooms and parking with a capacity for 350 cars.

BES EScontact Center - Call Center in Caldas da Rainha

Building highly populated, where the purpose was to build a Call Center owned by the

company EScontact Center (BES group) in which we can stand out the technical solutions

founded due to the economic situation proposed to the construction (construction area

Sobralinho’s Palace – Quinta da Piedade - Vila Franca de Xira

Palace construted in the 17th century and restored

in 1998. Done by subcontract we did the survey of

the existing infrastructures and elaborated in large

detail plans the execution projects (concluded).

Prazeres’ Graveyard Chapel - Lisbon

Restored in 1999 we did the survey of the existing conditions to the execution of the

installations and besides the licensing project we elaborated in large detail plans the

execution projects (concluded).

Auditorium – Morgado’s Palace – Arruda dos Vinhos

Restored in 2000, it was done by subcontract where we did the survey of the existing

conditions to the execution of the installations and elaborated in large detail plans the

Palace of Aciprestes’ Steading - Carnaxide

Restored in 2001, , it was done by subcontract where

D. Luís Filipe’s Theater (Teatro da Luz) - Colégio Militar – Carnide - Lisbon

Palace construted in the 16th century and rebuilt in the

18th century after the 1755 earthquake, restored in

2003. By subcontract we did the survey of the existing

conditions to the execution of the installations and

elaborated in large detail plans the execution projects

(concluded). We would like to stand out with proud the

mentions made by IGAC in the inspections done

relatively to the security conditions used due to the big

constraints of the building.

Museum Space – Casa dos Botes – Porto do Comprido – Faial - Azores

Rehabilitation of an existing building damaged by the

Capelhinhos’ Volcano eruption. We did the rebuilding

project having in consideration the conditions arising

from the maintenance of the existing ruins (concluded).

Rehabilitation of some Alfama’s Buildings - Lisbon

We did the recover projects of various residential buildings to the Alfama’s City Council

nucleus in 2004. Given the level of damage of the buildings and the conditions it was

necessary to develop a study concerning the installations.

8.5 SECURITY INSTALLATIONS PROJECTS

We planned and elaborated the projects of safety and security (means and measures of

security active and passive) for the following buildings:

Study and project of the active security measures and means for 42 school buildings for

the Oeiras town, where we highlight: elementary schools, nurseries and kindgartens;

Study and project of the active security measures and means for 6 school buildings for

the Sintra town, where we highlight: elementary schools, nurseries and kindgartens;

Study and project of the active and passive security measures and means for a building

in the Center of Quinta do Anjo – Audio Library – City Council of Setúbal;

Reformulation of the security installations (active and passive means) for quality control

in around 26 stores of the Robbialac group;

Reformulation of the security installations (active and passive means) for quality control

in around 12 stores of the Singer/Excel group;

Security installations project (active and passive means) for Egodial Clinic – Guarda;

Security installations project (active and passive means) for Cinema Complex (14 Cinema

rooms) integrated in the building construction of Alto do Parque Eduardo VII – “El Corte

Inglês”;

Security installations project (active means) for the cleaning substations in the Lisbon

City Council, of: Carnide, Arco do Cego e Marvila;

Security installations project (active and passive means) for Santomar Honda – Areeiro’s

Workshops;

Security installations project (active and passive means) for Santomar Honda – Graça’s
