Book published – Operação Rio – Relatos de uma Guerra Brasileira (Scritta, Immediate History Collection, 1995) Describes Rio de Janeiro’s "favelas" (shantytowns) violent routines and its occupations by the Brazilian Army, in 1994, to fight against the drug deallers and "organised" crime (material originally collected over 62 days reportage for O Estado de S. Paulo newspaper). The book was quoted as one of the main sources for a Human Rights Watch report about the issue.
