Set-Up Your Yammer Account
Log-in to Yammer
Go to www.Yammer.com to log-in
Select Sign-in
Type your work email, and your Yammer password
Select Forgot Password and Yammer will email you your password
Select Sign-in
Complete Your Profile
Share your background and expertise
YAMMER TIP:
Avoid acronyms or jargon, so everyone can understand and search successfully.
Select Edit Account
Add your Job Title, Department and Location. Include your Expertise.
Facilitator Notes: Your profile is really important! Your picture will help others put a name with a face. Sometimes you already have met a person online before you actually met them in real life.
A few tips for updating your profile use your Linked In Expertise and copy and paste it into your Yammer Profile. If you dont have your LinkedIn Profile up to date, take some time after class to get it up to date!
You can also add your Twitter Handle, Linked in Profile, Facebook page, Blog or any other of your websites to your profile. Be sure to add contact information and short bio.

Download a Contact Card with your colleagues information
The About You section is your Biography, and lets people know more about who you are and what you do
Add your contact information so your colleagues know how to reach you

Use @mentioning and + Add people to notify to loop-in the right people
Start a Conversation
@mention others an FYI or include in the conversation
+Add people to notify to notify specific people about a conversation or to ask for their input
Facilitator Notes:
Draw your colleagues to the conversation. Post directed responses.
Know someone who can add insight to a thread? Start by typing the @ symbol and their name. Pick from the autospell list, then select reply. Theyll receive a notification.
Note: If someone mentions you in a thread, it will show up on your feed, even if you are not following anyone in the thread. This is important if you need to bring in someone outside of the thread into the conversation.

This Reply feature can be helpful when threads are long (and can get off topic) to keep the conversation on topic. By hovering over the in reply to you can view the message to which someone is replying.

Create a Group where non-work related conversations can take place

Keeps non-work related discussions where they need to be
Users can choose whether or not to follow this Groups activity
Facilitator Notes: You can create a water cooler, living room, break room for non-work related content to keep it out of the main feed. For example, you could create a LOCATION group, such as San Francisco and ask the question, Who knows of a good dentist in the area I could use? These conversations are still valid and important, but can be in these types of groups to help keep the main feed focused on business related content.
