Why did we make a marketing portfolio?

F1 in Schools is a project not only about engineering, but also about marketing, design and -a very

important thing- INNOVATION.

Thus, we decided to do something that nobody has done before. We though about it, and we remember

that we could do a marketing and an engineering portfolios, where we were able do provide more information

about our work in this project.

So, in the Marketing Portfolio, you can get to know how we built our marketing strategies, how they were

progressing, who are our sponsors, how are they divided and who are our partners and connections.Moreover, you can see the events in which we participate and the news that were made about our team.

You will also have the opportunity to understand how we contact our sponsors and how we share our work

with other people trough our facebook and twitter pages, website and others.

Marketing strategy

Sponsors:

Since the beginning of the project, the team decided and created a marketing strategy.

After meeting with the president of the Parish Council of Fafe, this decision turned out to be more

intrinsic, due to the great help he gave us.

So, we decided to create our bases allied to our city with foundations firmly fixed in our region, to

support local companies and thus learning an important lesson to fight the crisis:

Why get out if here we have everything we need and enough quality?

Created our bases that could support us for any possible fall, it's time to go in search for more sponsors,

and now not just at our city, but, like we will went to the national final, at the north, expanding our area

of influence.

So, we went in search of great sponsors with global recognition and visibility in addition to they couldensure greater monetary stability.

Marketing strategy

Connections / Partners:

At first, we decided to find some connections in our region that could help us in our first steps in this

competition.

We started looking for the support of our teachers and the director of our school, because it was there

that all started and we really believe that their support is essential.

Then, we contacted the technological center of our region CITEVE because we discover this project

thanks to them, and they helped us a lot.

The next step was find local companies that were able to help us, namely, in the building and design of

our pit-display and the creation of our portfolio.

After this, we thought that was important to publicize our team and our work, so we contacted the local

newspaper and a news website made by a journalist of our city, and they published some news about

us.

Moreover, and because F1 in Schools is also about cars, we contacted a racing driver Tiago Monteiro

that is an important person of the automotive world and we made a partnership with him.

To make our work known better, we established a partnership with a big national entity Metro do

Porto and they promote our achievements, ensuring that our team could be known by a lot of

Portuguese and maybe foreign people.

Our sponsor are divided in four steps, corresponding to five, four, three and two stars sponsors categories.

The one star sponsor division doesnt exist, because all of our sponsors are awesome and none of them

deserves to be in the lowest category.

The higher the sponsor value, the higher the category is and a bigger projection the sponsor has.

Bercy is an advertising company, which started its activity in 1998 in the area of textile design, but

currently run digital print jobs in small and large formats, create corporate image and apply to all media.

More recently also started developing websites.

We contacted this company because it is a very important company and referenced in the business, in

addition to being recognized abroad.

Barely contacted, Mr. Alcides showed a lot interested and cooperative with our project and put us very

confident. We moved enough times there in search of his ideas, which helped us a lot.

In late, Berci helped us on manufactory, make the the equipment, stickers to stand and portfolio, all at

no cost to us.

We thank from the bottom of my heart for your help, because without it we would not have managed to

get where we got.

Carpintaria Manuel Martins

Carpintaria Manuel Martins is one of the best carpentry company's at Portugal, exporting furniture and

other things made of wood to the rest of Portugal.

We needed to do the pit display, and we knew that in our city, this was the best place to do it, so we

went there.

Once we went there Manuel Martins, the owner of the carpentry, started studying the project to the pit

display and saying what could be done better and a lot of more things.

He started doing the pit display and then we went a lot of times there to see the developing.

Once the display ready, he helped us with the transport and the repainting of it.

Isec

We needed a place for professional make us the car without any imperfections and so we could put in

the forefront of the premium engineering and drive faster.

Your looking for centers and universities that had this pito of machines that we could make the car right.

We ended up contacting ISEC which proved available to help us and was interested in our project and

our team.

With the support of this institute we can make the cars with a much higher quality than we had.

The institute then asked us to talk about them in our presentations and we will do so as a thank you forall the support they gave us.

Agrupamento de escolas de Fafe:

Since the first day that we exposed our willingness to participate in this contest our school supported us.

We had support such from teachers such from the school's own direction, which according to his own

words is very proud of the work we have been developing.

The teacher Olinda Alves reviewed our English and Miguel Vieira, one of our most motivating persons

since the beginning of this project. He taught us many things, which contributed a lot to our

improvement. Without his help we couldnt get as far as we have.

With the help of the teacher Nuno Antunes, the only teacher doctored in art and design of our grouping,we made our new portfolio. He helped us with the program and the lay out.

Auto Imprio:

Auto Imprio is an company linked to the car world and it paint real cars.

We wanted an awesome painting, that remains a big car, so we went to talk to them.

They liked our project and gave us sponsorship.

This company painted our car with a precision that reminds a mirror. Excellent work without any costs.

And yet another contribute from the automotive world that makes us proud.

Fafe cidade:

Fafe Cidade is a local driving school, and all of his publicity is directed more precisely to young people

like us.

We wanted a sponsor of the automotive world, but connected to people of our age, so we remember to

contact this local driving school.

When we contacted this driving school she liked the project and the visibility that we were going to give

him in our presentations so in exchange for the publicity it got done, she gave us a generous monetary

help. Thrills us to have a sponsor, due to the nature of this project, from the automotive world.

This is a local confection company that send on Portugal and exports to Spain and so we went to talk

with them.

Once we talk they have been very congratulated, and had helped us.

No is one of our best sponsors. They have given us a good amount of money and a lot of support. They

Edu-mvel is an big company at the north region that sell and make furniture.

We asked for this company sponsorship because we needed furniture on the event day.

Thanks to them we had a pre fully furnished stand for the national final 2012 and to ours presentations.

The banking was made by him as the central mobile which is the support of our car, all for free.

This one men company is one of the best in Fafe in his business.

He works on stainless principle, but we went to talk to him because of his awesome work with the lathe.

We asked him to make us the axles and wheels and he shows be very interested, and although he was

working full he showed him also very available.

Our special thanks to this man who did the wheels (more than 40) and the axles in his lathe.

Besides that he helped us to build the car and gave us the best advices at the manufacturing.

Freitas & Soares is a company that makes equipment's and, as a team, we must have our equipment.

We asked to this company to do our polo's and caps. This company assisted us and helped us as he

could, having a lot of importance in the creation of our first equipment, giving us a idea, to the team

identity, to go on.

The owner gave us a discount of 50%.

This is an company that sends painting and we needed to paint the car, so we went to this company that sell

paint of awesome quality to get the painting.

Once we went to talk whit this company, the owner pledged us whit awesome words of support and his

word of sponsorship. The inks needed to the car paint were offered by this company, as well the plugged pores ink too.

We asked for sponsorship to this company, because we needed cash in order to progress in this project,and they showed a lot of interest in helping us.

We talked with the culture city councilman, Dr. Antero to divulge our project trough the local

newspapers, City Hall website and to contribute in our project. He conduct us to Daniel Bastos who is

the responsible of the Fafe media operations.

Once the project divulged and having the recognition from the Fafe city hall we went to a lot of reunions

with the education alderman to help us monetarily.

We had no respond from them, but then, wen we created the association, they undertook the expenses

of it creation.

F1 in Schools:

Is an international competition for school children, aged between 1118, in which groups of 3 -

6 students have to design and manufacture a miniature "car" out of balsa wood using

CAD/CAM design tools.

The cars are powered by CO2 cartridges and are attached to a track by a thin wire. They are

timed from the moment they are launched to when they pass the finish line by a computer.

We are thankful to it, because, thanks to this project, we started to work in team and now we

are an awesome team and we discover an good way to work. Moreover, we had turned betterqualificated to the business world and to the our work live.

GADET:

Gadet is an big firm of architecture, surveying and engineering that have one of the best professionals of

Fafe at the business.

We needed a architect company that helped us with professional tips of how to build the pit display and

to turn that tips into an paper language that the carpenter could understand.

We had a lot of meetings with the architect because this season we wanted to improve a lot our stand,

so we resort to this company. They gave us a lot of awesome ideas.

And whit this ideas exchange we improved our own capacities and we discover a lot of more thing at theworld of architecture.

There was a talk in our city on the influence of advertising on consumer and Mr. Gil Soares from arp &

art (architecture company ), and spoke at the end showed his works, which were always contained

bright portfolios.

So we decided to approach him and ask - it helps level the creation of a spectacular lay out for our

portfolio. It proved to be very cooperative and from there went on to help us.

This company was very helpful. We had a lot of meetings to coordinate the portfolio planning. We

search for companies like this because our last years portfolio was not good enough to compete with

the top ones.

But Mr. Gil hadnt stop there, he helped us to whit the locomotion and whit the portfolio print.

This is the best local newspaper here in Fafe.

Due to our need of promoting the project, we asked to Dr. Elsa Lima, the newspaper director to make us

an interview. When the newspaper came out to the stalls, we received a lot of greetings and backups

about the project.

Since that day we had been in touch with her and we had send a lot of news to her, in order to expand

our image and help us to get an big sponsor.

DEMOPORTO

DEMOPORTO Clube de Desportos Motorizados do Porto - is a very young section, which was created

December 12, 2008.

Despite having very little time, already has a large body of evidence organized and with great experience

in organizing motorized events, ranging from the Regional Championship events until the Championship

of Portugal rallies, passing through several Super Special.

They had organized the WRC at our city and then we went to talk with them.

Since we talked with them, they showed a lot of interest on help us, and so, they had sent mails to car

companies to help us, and to sponsor us.

We are grateful for their help.

Metro do Porto

The Metro do Porto is a public transportation system of the Metropolitan Area of Porto, Portugal, which

is an electrified underground railway network in the center of Porto and the surface at the periphery.

It is a recent network divided into six subway lines (eight services, including an express service) scattered

seven municipalities of the metropolitan area: Porto, Maia, Matosinhos, Pvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde

Vila Nova de Gaia and Gondomar and funicular line, the funicular Guindais. It has a total of 81 stations

distributed over 70 km of commercial lines doubled, mostly on the surface, with 9.5 km of underground

network.

Like its an big and kneed company we went to talk with her, in order to get an sponsor, but the Metro do

Porto, cant sponsor anyone, but they told us that they could divulge our project and expand our image.

At the other hand, we tasked to deliver some gifts of Porto that they gave us.

January 2013______________________________________1stSchool Event

In January, we talked with the direction of our school in order to have their permission to put our stand, from

last year, on the polyvalent of the school. With it, we wanted to disclose our team and the project F1 in

Schools and encourage more students to participate in it .

Throughout the day, we received a lot a students who showed interest in participating and we gave them

instructions to do it.

We think that this initiative was very well received by our colleagues and, the next few years, there will be

more students from A.E.Fafe in this project.

April 2013_________________________________________Regional Final

On April 23, the most important moment in Racing Arts history happened we won the Regional Final,

in Vila Nova de Famalico.

The day started early - we left Fafe around 7 a.m., but, although it, we had lots of energy and will to win the

Regional Final.

When we got to Famalico, we had the opportunity to meet the other teams and the place where would

happen this stage of competition.

After that, the day continued. We set up our pit-display, we received lots of people (from other teams and

not only) in it, we explained our project to them, we were evaluated by the Marketing, Engineering, and

other juries Well, we had an amazing day!

In the end, came the moment everyone had been waiting for when everybody knows who are the

winners. Well, we were a little nervous in that moment. We knew the work we had, the moments we spent

together in order to make everything being perfect. That would be the time we would have the confirmation

that our work had been worth. And it was. We won the 1st Place in The Regional Final Citeve, and the Best

Pit-Display, the Best Sponsorship and Marketing, the Best Research and Developmentandthe Best Verbal

Presentation awards.

May 2013_________________________________________Volunteering event

Solidarity Racing ArtNowadays, there is a big financial and economical crisis in our world, where is including our own country,

Portugal. And, as a team, we really believe that we can make a difference in this situation, although this

difference could not be so significant as we would like.

So, on Saturday, 4th May 2013, we joined the Association for the Defense of Animal and Forest Rights

(ADDAF) and we participated in a collection of goods (food, bowls, cleaning products...) for the animals who

are in Municipal Kennel of Fafe .

After this campaign, we believe that the result was very positive we managed to raise about 230 kg of food

for dog and cat and even 82 00 in cash, which reversed in its entirety, for ADDAF.

We are very grateful to all those who supported us in this initiative and all who have supported us in the

competition in which we participate. We expect, therefore, that the population of Fafe has become more

alerted to the difficulties facing by ADDAF to nourish and care for all animals (whose number increases every

day) and that more people make themselves available to help them.

As someone said, the true essence of a team is seen outside the moments of competition.

In June, there was a initiative in our school, named A day in High School, when all students who are in

the 9th grade, from our city, visited our school and could see the activities that are done here.So, we showed interest in divulge our project in this initiative. We set up our pit-display in the school and

the students could see it and talk with us about F1in Schools. Some of them have also participated in this

project, so they were very interested and they asked lots of questions about it.

We hope they have liked it and, in the next few years, they could be the next generation of winners from

Fafe.

June 2013_________________________________________Circuito da Boavista

In the last week of June, we went to Oporto, in order to meet the racing driver, and our partner, Tiago

Monteiro, in Circuito da Boavista, where he was preparing himself and his car to the next race.This day was an adventure. It was a day of general strike and there was no public transports from Fafe to

Oporto. Once more time, and thanks to F1 in Schools, we had to work together as a team and find a solution

to our problem. And the truth is that we could go to Oporto and back to Fafe, on that day!

We arrived at Circuito da Boavista at around 11 a.m., and as our meeting would just be at twelve oclock, we

had to wait at the Circuto da Boavistas entrance.

When we were there, we could see lots of different and amazing cars, which would participate in the races.

Moreover, when Tiago got there, he showed us the Paddock and he talked with us about him experience in

the automotive world. He also showed us his Honda Civic and explained us how it was built.

It was, in fact, an amazing day!

Association creation

Our team wanted to reach a level that no other team would never come, so we remember to create anassociation.

With the creation of this association our team create the basis for that all new teams in our region can

grow with our help and then we help them to, more easily, get sponsorship to boost their work.

We find it important for Portugal, as the great nations that have achieved a prominent place in world

championships, Portugal must acquire their methods and put them into practice, But it need someone

to take the first step, and we commit ourselves as a team to do it, increasingly improving our work in the

field of F1 in schools and the latter link bases that will provide a facility to the new teams coming aheadbecause they will not need to start from zero, as we own and had may enjoy the work of previous teams,

so far reaching the top.

We hope that this method gives results which compensates the work of creating the association that we

had, the need of addressing the association and the time that we take several times since the regional

final, to clarified a number of questions with the doctor Pompeu, alderman of culture and Dr. Celia

Cunha, director of RENAJ.
