CHANGE OF GUARD IN RIBEIRA d’ILHAS. The first stop of the Meo Pro Surf Leaguefollows a long line of events that marked portuguese surfing. Since 1992, when theiconic Tiago Oliveira won, until 1996 and 1997 when Tiago Pires “blew up” on theportuguese league, Ribeira has always been the perfect "stage" for all those mo-ments, and many others, of great relevance in Portugal.For the three days of the Meo Ericeira Pro 2012 this point break provided very goodsurf, never falling under one meter or above two. This event saved its best momentfor the final, where the two most talented surfers of the new generation, Vasco Ri-beiro and Frederico Morais, faced as equals. And the rest is history...
