1.a.
implementação do próprio curso.
eventualmente no futuro”.
funcionamento do curso.
corresponde a 180 créditos e o segundo (Master) a 120 créditos.
1º) Na sua organização vertical possui cinco linhas curriculares distintas: Atelier; Tecnologia;
5
reconhecimento do visível.
repetição, transferência, variação do objeto, enquanto princípio técnico, associado à gravura, serigrafia,
diferentes meios gráficos, nomeadamente a colagem, fotografia e meios expandidos do processo gráfico.
como escreve Serota (Experience or Interpretation, The Dilemma of Museums of Modern Art,1996, p. 34)
“Carl Andre has described the evolution of sculpture in the twentieth century as a change of interest from
‘sculpture as form’ to ‘sculpture as structure’ and finally ‘sculpture as place”.
No plano
No plano teórico a
As áreas Estudos Performativos e
Conselho Geral. A acreditação da LAV virá, certamente, fortalecer a consistência desta alteração.
Ponto 3.3.3.
associação de formas, materiais e elementos”; Em Atelier III: “Desenvolver modos de criação artística”;
consolidando desse modo a dimensão autoral.
Ponto 3.3.5.
menos rigorosa” agora apresentada.
Ponto 9.6
1. Que o mesmo se enquadra na missão e nos objetivos estratégicos da UMinho;
necessárias para acolher o Curso com toda a qualidade;
3. Que a criação do Curso se justifica plenamente enquanto oferta formativa no contexto
regional e nacional;

University of Minho School of Architecture RESPONSE CAE Preliminary Report NCE/16/00040 | Degree in Visual Arts
In response to the Preliminary Report of CAE - NCE / 16/00040, this document elaborates and synthesizes
a set of observations on the Degree in Visual Arts (LAV) proposed by the University of Minho (UMinho).
Organized in three areas, it intends to reaffirm the strategic interest of the Degree in Visual Arts for the
UMinho; it intends to justify the coherence of the proposed curricular structure; and, in detail, to argue in
favour of the scientific and didactic-pedagogical options taken in the Study Plan, clarifying the main
questions presented by CAE.
Based on the allegations made, this response concludes, by requesting reconsideration of the final
recommendation of the Preliminary Report, of non-accreditation.
1. Strategic interest of LAV to the University of Minho
1a.
A fundamental intention of the UMinho is to be a Complete University, purpose that has been
successively reaffirmed in its Statutes. All its path reflect this intention and effort, and the inclusion of the
Arts Area completes the great cycle of the formative spectrum. In this route, UMinho has always been trying
to reflect on the pre-existing models and, in Portugal and abroad, and from this analysis, to build formative
structures that correspond to the contemporary demands, focusing in innovative formative actions.
LAV - together with the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees associated with the courses of
Music, Theatre, Product Design and Architecture - is therefore of strategic importance in the pursuit of this
target and it is, of course, crucial to the UMinho’s affirmation and settling.
This degree also materializes a clear political will of the municipality and the region, which has been
explicit in an intense artistic and cultural offer of recognized quality, evident in the public investment that has
been made in infrastructures and events, progressively incorporated in the daily life of the population.
14
Within a proficient interaction, the commitment in the training of professionals in the field of Arts,
by contributing to the increase of the cultural policy actors, is vital both to their sedimentation, their
permanent updating and competence, improving cultural and social levels and, ultimately, contributing to
the country's development.
UMinho’s determination is therefore coherent with its history, and cannot be reduced to the "interest
in the integration of possible surplus candidates of other courses, strengthening the formative range of the
School of Architecture", or to "harnessing the apparent potential of candidates for a generic course of cross-
cutting nature", as CAE repeatedly suggests (3.1.4, 3.1.5, 3.2.4). We would rather interpret it as an assumed
strategic intention to strengthen the offer in the area of Arts, providing quality training, contemporary, and
not yet affirmed in the country.
1.b.
UMinho has always honoured its commitments in the construction of the teaching projects. In
situations where the study cycles, due to their disciplinary and scientific nature, require the hiring of a specific
teaching staff, this hiring is carried out following, of course, the implementation of the course itself. As A3ES
know, same situation have happened before.
In order for LAV to properly work, and inasmuch as it will be necessary to substantially strengthen
the specialized teaching staff in the main scientific area of training, UMinho's Rectorate guarantees the
contracting of 7 ETI's. CAE questions this commitment by stating, as the basis for the recommendation of
non-accreditation of the study cycle (12.4-2), that "it cannot recommend accreditation of the study cycle from
the possibilities to be fulfilled [the contracting of 7 ETI's] eventually in the future ". It is, in fact, an argument
that UMinho cannot accept.
1.c.
In the strategic framework of including Arts in the UMinho’s academic offer, we highlight the
creation, in close partnership with the municipality of Guimarães, of CampUrbis, located in the historical
centre of the city, where the degrees of Product Design and Theatre are already established. As part of the
urban rehabilitation intervention in that area, the local authority, concedes and reconverts the garage space
Avenida to install LAV course. This is an evident demonstration of the interest and the acknowledgement of
LAV contribution for the development of the cultural creative activity of the region.
It is a fact that, for technical reasons, the works have not yet started (although the project, drawn
up under the order of the local authority, is finished), reason that leads CAE to mention, in 12.4-3, also as a
Recommendation of non-accreditation, lack of facilities.
15
Recognizing, without doubt, the principle that "the existence of facilities is crucial for the operation
of any cycle of studies", in this case it is necessary to make explicit that UMinho has the conditions to
receive, in an absolutely qualified and immediately, the first year of the course. This availability exists in the
Institute of Design of Guimarães (IDEGUI), where the Degree in Product Design is already installed, and
the university is receptive, if the A3ES so wishes, to condition the opening of LAV to the evidence that the
works for the proper installations are in progress.
2. Coherence of the curricular structure
This degree that UMinho intends to offer is a course organized from scratch. In this sense, it
expresses a conceptual effort freed from the constraints to which most similar courses were obliged, in
response to the curricular compactness resulting from the harmonization of the Bologna agreement.
An offer of a 3-year degree in Visual Arts with 180 credits was chosen, similar to the 1st cycle arts
offer in the European Union, in countries like France, Italy or England. For its duration, it is valued a
"generalist" training, not segmented in specific branches (namely Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts), as
it is traditional, guarantying for students the acquisition of ample competences, and allowing to reach the
objectives necessary for a qualified training in the visual arts.
As international examples of degrees (European) that present a broad-based curriculum we
highlight: Fine Art BA at Coventry University or De Montfort University, in England; Triennio in Pittura and
Arti Visive at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, in Italy; License Arts Plastique at Université Paris 8 or UFR
d'Arts Plastiques et Sciences de l'Art at Université Paris 1, in France.
To the demonstrated in Point 10.2 of the LAV curriculum plan, we can also add that according to
Raffaella Pagani (El Credito Europeo y el Systeme Educatico Espanol, 2002) most of the countries of the
European Community have a degree structure whose 1st cycle (Bachelor) corresponds to 180 credits and
the second (Master) to 120 credits.
LAV establishes, therefore, on its curricular structure, a formation without strict division by artistic
disciplines - without, however, cancelling out its own specificity - and deepens several associated and
transversal technologies, giving priority to artistic practice and collaborative work in Atelier. After three years,
students will have acquired the necessary tools to integrate their knowledge into individual creation
processes and collective experimentation. In this way, their artistic practice can be developed in various
formats, through different techniques and in different spaces and cultural segments.
16
We believe that this generalist and interdisciplinary structure, prepare graduated students in Arts
for a recognized artistic professional practice, which will also allow them, if they choose, to perform various
functions in the labour market:
1º) In its vertical organization the course has five different curricular lines: Atelier; Technology;
Drawing/Digital; Theoretical-practical (for curricular units (UC’s) of greater participation at a
research and debate level) and Theoretical, (For more expository curricular units).
2º) On a complementary basis it has a horizontal structure formed by operative concepts:
Perception, Representation, Multiple, Assembly, Module, Exhibition.
3º) It evolves from more conventional and traditional ways of artistic practice, which the first year
student will be able to recognize, to problems of greater complexity.
4º) It allows students to try different practices, methodologies and tools in order to choose a
specialization through experience and knowledge and not from ideas.
Finally, we believe that the proposed curriculum, which has been articulated to coordinate both
horizontally and vertically, fully empowers graduates with broad basic training and consistent artistic maturity
- to pursue postgraduate studies in a specific area of their interest.
For the reasons above, we remain convinced in the merit of the curricular structure presented for LAV.
Despite the existence of conceptual disagreements or the acknowledgment of eventual weaknesses
evidenced by CAE, it is with surprise that we get this effort reduced to a proposal of an "equivocal" training
offer and to a study plan and organization that "do not adopt a structure minimally consistent with its main
focus, its central objectives and the mission it desires "(12.4 -1).
3. Scientific and didactic-pedagogical options on the curricular structure and study plan - positive arguments and clarification of the main issues presented in the Preliminary Report
3.a. General considerations
As part of the accreditation process of a new cycle of studies in Visual Arts, the current proposal
amends the first submission on which a non-accreditation judgement was made. The version now under
review corresponds to its reformulation, and includes, in particular, the amendments and contributions of
the previous CAE report.
The proposal is based on the understanding of a progressive phenomenon of integration of the
traditional arts or "Fine Arts", in a fluid and interdisciplinary dynamic, increasingly evident in contemporary
art exhibitions and academic curricula. This dynamic does not embody the abandonment of painting or
17
sculpture, but rather an unprivileged relation between the various artistic "media" (in addition to the ones
mentioned above: like multimedia languages or performance). This "post-media" condition (Rosalind
Krauss, 2013) has become inherent in critical discourse and artistic practice, at least since the 1970s and
particularly in Portugal since the 1990s.
This proposal combines different "media" into a single Atelier curricular unit so that students could
develop their work using, with increasing autonomy, the languages they feel more vocation for, with the
possibility of experiencing and knowing the highest number of expression forms and processes. However,
conscious that this diversity can create perplexity effects - doubt, uncertainty, indecision, disturbance - the
proposal establishes cohesion axes, also guaranteeing the professor a guiding grid
1) Begin the academic education with a matrix related to historical concepts of art, with a high
connection to the values of painting, sculpture and traditional practices of objects’ creation. In this
way, students can structure their work within an integrated disciplinary activity (painting and
sculpture) inscribed in the scope of bi and three-dimension.
2) Evolve, in the second year, in the context of reconfiguration of the object according to "contexts":
spatial, semantic, and social, via unstable objects: multiples, series, sets, hybrid objects (artist
books), and constructions or assembly.
3) Complete the first cycle with "expansive" practices, both by material execution, use of constructive
modularity, and by the public dimension of exhibition and assembly in pre-established spaces.
During the academic education, students evolve from a more traditional education experience to a
practice of transversal integration of different technical processes, languages and scales. Students also
experience the relation with space and environment. The curricular units of each semester follow this
evolution. In the first semester, along with the concept of "Perception" implicit in Atelier I, the curricular unit
of Drawing I also works on the issues of observation and recognition of the visible. Geometry enables
abstraction supporting the acquirement of knowledge and tools on conceptual and rigorous constructions to
understand the optical nature of perception, without neglecting the illustration of these processes through
optical mechanisms, fine art and representation systems - perspective, axonometry and orthogonal
projections.
The second semester reinforces the problem of perception by indicating semantics and visual codes
employed in the fixation of appearances. In summary, the curricular units Atelier II, Drawing II and
Geometry II, deepen perceptual processes by identifying "Representation" codes and forms of expression.
In both semesters, the curricular units of Artistic Movements I and II allows the identification of the
great moments of art history precisely as the development of the representation systems in their relation
18
with the development of perceptual processes, in line with the investigation of Wollflin, Panofsky, Gombrich,
Summers, or Kemp.
In the third semester, the concept of "Multiple" in developed, adding processes of printing, repetition,
transfer, object variation, as a technical principle, connected with engraving, serigraphy, ceramics, molding
- but also - as a creative discipline of Variation and Editing regarding a theme and motive. The concept of
Multiple in Atelier III is supported by printing and molding technologies. Drawing III explores the supports
deviation and the relation between graphic techniques - drawing, engraving, serigraphy, collage,
photography. Through the curricular unit of Modern Art, students learn precisely the modernist movements,
where the idea of Multiple and the combination of languages becomes a central reason of creation. The
Multiple or Multiplicity is thus the central concept of the third semester, allowing the diversity and integration
of indeterminate processes. More intensely than in the traditional creation systems, proper methodologies
of research, organization and documentation are needed. The curricular unit of Artistic Practices provides
conceptual and methodological tools suitable for further proper experimentation, reinforcing the collection,
documentation and archiving processes.
In the fourth semester, the concept is "Assembly" as a way of artistic construction that presupposes
the appropriation, recombination and contextualization of forms. The exercises proposed in Atelier IV are
supported by the development of Technologies IV, whose main goal is the use of construction and
assembly systems through cutting, gluing, welding, but also using materials such as wood, metal, textiles
and polymers. In Drawing IV is also enhanced the integration of different graphic media, namely the collage,
photography and expanded media of the graphic process. The relation with context as a fundamental data
of the "Assembly" opens new perspectives on the position of the artistic object in space and its relation with
place, insofar that there is a re-contextualization of the constituent elements. This spatial dimension of the
artistic act corresponds to a deviation for the "sculpture" insofar as mere two-dimensional support becomes
obsolete. On the other hand, and as Serota writes (Experience or Interpretation, The Dilemma of Museums
of Modern Art, Thames and Hudson, 1996, p. 34), "Carl Andre has described the evolution of sculpture in
the twentieth century as a change of interest from “sculpture as form” for “sculpture as structure” and finally
“sculpture as place”. In this premise the curricular unit Space, Territory and Context is introduced, as a
way to understand contemporary art from the notion of "Expanded Field" by Rosalind Krauss, and the
importance of place and practices of public art. Definitely installed within the scope of Contemporary Art,
the curricular unit with the same name concludes a cycle of documentary analysis and discussion about the
great moments of artistic evolution.
In the fifth semester, Atelier V explores modular building processes, such as integration of molding
and multiple technologies, recovering notions of Atelier III, but also introducing prototyping, 3D printing and
digital drawing technologies developed in Technologies V, where digital and manufacturing digital
19
processes and tools are used, either by injection or cutting. The curricular unit Digital and its options - Using
and Programming - will provide the digital means and tools of drawing and drawing manipulation involved
in this process. The selection between these two curricular units is explained by the student's greater or
lesser interest in subsequently developing a work with digital and multimedia tools, respectively from the
perspective of the user or the programmer. Theoretically, the "expanded" dimension previously indicated in
"Space, Territory and Context" is continued. In fact, the questioning of place and space also implies a new
awareness of the body and its action, processes and narratives as integrated elements in the artwork. In
this sense it is necessary to insert a curricular unit dedicated to Performance Studies as an area capable of
giving theoretical coverage to video, multimedia, public art and the relation with the spectator. This
fundamental feature of contemporary art involves the multidisciplinary and emerging dynamics of today. In
the scope of the theory and more concretely of the Aesthetic, a reflection on the artistic object in “Image
Theory” is proposed revisiting the contemporary notions, but also, focusing on methods of thinking and
arguing critical judgments on the artwork.
Finally, in the sixth semester, it is suggested in Atelier VI the conclusion (temporary) of the artistic
process with the creation and programming of exhibition events in their different scales and dimensions.
From the material problems of assembly, placement, lighting, narrative, to the promotional and public
dynamics. This problem is supported by Digital in the two options indicated by the creation of websites,
dissemination and image processing, handling of multimedia aspects, creation of virtual spaces, and
development of interfaces. As in previous semesters, Technologies VI offer practical support in solving
practical problems, considering in this case different contingencies, from assembly structures to interfaces,
timers, multimedia devices. On the theoretical level, the curricular unit Exhibition Practices, theoretically
frames the theme of the debate on the importance of exhibition space, curatorship and various forms of
exhibition. As established in the academic policy of the university, all 1st cycle courses must provide an
optional curricular unit designated by UMinho Optional, and student choose a curricular unit within the
range offered by the other cycles of studies.
We believe we have demonstrated above, that the course has a solid structure, organised
horizontally and vertically, thought coherently and articulated in every detail of the programs, bibliographies,
teaching methodologies and evaluation.
3.b. Analytical Arguing
The argumentation below is structured following the order of the most critical aspects focused on CAE
Preliminary Report.
20
Point 2.3.2.
Regarding the diversity of the scientific areas considered as an "excess of scientific areas" in the
Preliminary Report, they will be detailed justified in 3.3.5.
However it should be noted that in addition to the area of Visual Arts, there are the areas of Drawing,
Art Theory and History of Art and Aesthetics, which together are included in the main area of the cycle of
studies 211 (defined by Administrative Rule 256/2005 March 16, 2005). The Performative Studies and
Artistic Studies areas are related and appropriate in a Visual Arts degree.
Point 3.2.5.
Regarding CAE argument related to the absence of the area of Arts on the name of the school that
will host the degree in Visual Arts, we can clarify that the change of designation from School of Architecture
to "School of Architecture, Art and Design", has already been submitted to the General Council for
consideration. The accreditation of the Degree in Visual Arts will certainly strengthen the consistency of this
change.
Point 3.3.3.
It is mentioned that in the curricular units of Atelier I to VI "formal and technical aspects of learning
are emphasized and objectives are not associated with the dimension of personal project". Indeed, and after
the submission of the first proposal, the "project dimension" was reformulated in the Study Plan taking into
account CAE Report of 2014, where it has been critically interpreted this condition, as follows:
"3.1.4. Evidence supporting the compliance classifications noted in 3.1.1, 3.1.2 and 3.1.3:
The defined objectives are generic, providing transversal indicators corresponding to a project
culture centred on drawing and atypical processes (and possible curation) in a vocation close
to architecture.
3.3.5. Recommendations for improvement:
The designation and sub-titles of the Atelier and Project curricular units make difficult to have
some form for manoeuvre. Therefore a clearer distinction of the intentions of each one is
needed, so that, in the concrete plan of their programs and contents, there are less operative
separation, promoting a more interdisciplinary articulation related to the realities of the
creative processes in Visual Arts. A better clarification of contents to accompany the project
and conceptual formation through the necessary formal and technical counterparts can also
be advantageous, so that the acquisition of content is actually established in the field of artistic
creation and not in its mere intention "(Report CAE, 2014).
21
12.4. Basis of the recommendation:
In the current circumstances, it turns out that the Visual Arts study project is more anchored
in Drawing and in a structure based on the idea of a project, with no credible operational
counterpart in artistic practices. This raises a conceptual divergence that cannot be solved.”
Thus, the use of the "Project" concept, allegedly more associated with architectural culture, was
reduced to the benefit of explicit "formal and technical aspects" that could make learning content more
precise than its "mere intention".
However, even in these circumstances of diminishing the concept of "Project" we can find, in Atelier
VI, as learning objectives: "To conceive; Programming, Planning" as project goals. In Atelier V: "Develop
conceptual strategies"; "Aesthetic exploration ability"; In Atelier IV: "Apply appropriation processes as a
creative strategy"; "To develop creative processes in the association of forms, materials and elements"; In
Atelier III: "Developing modes of artistic creation"; "Develop variation strategies"; "Building an aesthetic
discourse." In Atelier II: "Developing a personal work system", and in Atelier are not stated creative and
design goals by a greater incidence in the acquisition of formal technical knowledge.
We argue, therefore, that although the term "project" does not exist explicitly, objectives are
indicated that are related or equivalent in creative, programmatic, conceptual and strategic tasks, thus
consolidating the author dimension. It seems, however, that there has been a reinforcement of the
clarification of technical and operational contents, also in response to the need for a "greater clarification of
concrete contents".
Under this same aspect, but regarding Drawing UCs, please see, below, in 3.3.5, our explained
arguments.
Point 3.3.4
In addition to the curricular unit Atelier which is presented all over the six semesters, it should also
be highlighted the curricular unit of Technologies, which is also present during six semesters, being a strong
laboratory structure of the course, along with Drawing and Digital.
Point 3.3.5.
Regarding the comment that the curricular units of Drawing only occupy 4 semesters, we would
like to mention that the current proposal holds the same option as the previous proposal, which did not had
any revision by CAE, but instead indicated in 3.3.4, that: "various curricular programs are competently
22
elaborated, namely in the curricular units of Drawing, Geometry and Art History "(CAE Report, 2014); and
even though, as already mentioned, the proposal was "anchored in Drawing".
An important area such as Drawing could obviously be deepened, but there is a need to introduce
other educational practices into an exercise of adjustment and commitment, and Drawing already has a
structuring and sufficient expression in the course. It should also be noted that the 5th and 6th semesters of
Digital / Use are concerned with digital drawing, 3D manufacturing, and in Digital / Programming there is
training in digital drawing programs such as "Processing".
The project dimension is also reinforced in Drawing IV, in the first objective: "Development of
author’s identity through drawing projects", strengthened by the programmatic content while referring to
"Drawing exercise as an autonomous practice in relation to identity, individual expression” as well as
“Identifying drawing applications as an expressive mean, as a project instrument". From the foregoing, it is
explicit the enunciation of the authorial and project dimension of the Drawing and by the Drawing.
To conclude this topic, we would like to point out that Drawing also takes place in Geometry
education, and it has an essential role in printing technologies such as engraving and serigraphy.
Also in response to the exposed in the Report, we would like to emphasize that the collaboration
between Schools and Institutes, intrinsic to the matrix structure of UMinho, reinforces the intersection of the
respective areas of formation, without abdicating the rigour and specificity proper to each scientific area.
The transversality and inclusion of complementary areas of knowledge, as well as professors with
relevant academic profile for the Degree, from other Organic Units of Education and Research (UOEIs), is
seen as a factor of curricular enrichment. Therefore, and considering an eminently interdisciplinary activity
as the Visual Arts, it is natural that different areas of knowledge coincide.
In this sense we rely on the collaboration of Geography in the curricular unit Space Territory and
Context, focused on the subjects of territory, public art, land art and expanded field. We also think it is
appropriate the collaboration in “Practical Artists” of a professor with background in Visual Arts, specialized
in investigation and research methodologies from the Education Institute. The inclusion of the Performative
Studies area seems to be clearly justifiable, by the integration of "performance" as an inescapable line of
contemporary art.
The collaboration of the Engineering School is crucial to the textile and polymer workshops, where,
under the coordination of visual arts professors, the engineering professors will share their experience and
knowledge, ensuring the integration of the necessary knowledge to this degree. The same principle is
23
applied to the contents of Digital and Multimedia, where we rely on the collaboration of the Departments
of Informatics (Engineering School) and Communication Sciences (Institute of Social Sciences), as well as
its vast laboratory equipment and experience.
It should be noted that these departments, professors and workshops already have extensive
experience in the contact with Architecture, Theatre, Digital Art, Textile Design and Product Design, and
therefore with similar methodologies of the visual arts.
Although CAE may consider that "there are an excessive number of scientific areas", these are
organized in two groups: Art, and Technologies. Thus, we can recognize the scientific area of Visual Arts as
dominant, containing Drawing, Art Theory, History of Art, Philosophy / Aesthetics, complemented by the
areas of Performative Studies and Artistic Education; and another group that includes Geography,
Engineering and Communication Sciences, which collaborate in the degree and ensure specific and relevant
knowledge for the concerned curricular units. Finally, QAC corresponds to the (obligatory) curricular unit
UMinho Optional offer available in the UMinho that students may consider interesting to their personal path.
We acknowledge this synergy and articulated collaboration not considering it an impoverishment.
Quite the opposite, we defend it as an interdisciplinary added value, which is so highly appreciated in the
current paradigms of education and research. By its integrative nature we understand it as a differentiating
element, clearly positive, in our proposal for the 1st cycle degree in Visual Arts.
Point 9.4.
Considering that no changes were made in the methodology for the ECTS calculation, the comment
seems to contradict the evaluation made in 2014, where it was considered a "satisfactory methodology", in
contrast to the alleged lack of explanation of a "less rigorous methodology" now presented.
Point 9.6
We acknowledge that a higher offer of optional curricular units would be desirable, however a
reduced number of students would be dispersed by several curricular units, and the classes shifts wouldn’t
have the necessary and appropriate critical mass. It is intended with this structure to ensure the conceptual
horizontality of each semester. In any case, and as indicated in various evaluation methodologies in the
curricular unit’s records, the exercises are optional, so students can choose between sculptural, pictorial or
multimedia.
24
4. Conclusion
We believe this response has exposed, and defended, clearly and objectively, the proposal that we
prepared for the creation of a new cycle of studies in Visual Arts.
We argue:
1. The Degree meets the mission and strategic objectives of the University of Minho.
2. The institution has the conditions - in terms of human and material resources - necessary to receive
the degree, guarantying its quality;
3. The creation of the degree in Visual Arts is fully justified as an academic offer at a regional and
national context;
4. The degree proposal present a curriculum structure and a coherent study plan from a scientific and
pedagogical didactic point of view, innovative in the national context, and meeting the degrees in
Visual Arts in the European Area.
Therefore, we propose the reconsideration of the final recommendation of the Preliminary Report and the
accreditation of the Degree in Visual Arts proposed by the University of Minho.
