President’s letter [email protected] Dear Friends, Love, personified in Jesus, crossed the Universe to offer education to our rebellion. Since then, lots of us gather to preserve the message that this Star left us. Nowadays, the proposal still is: “Learn about yourself”, because it is only like this that, little by little, together as a group or individually we will build a better world. “More than a curricular Spiritism, noble in its Universal fundamentals, we need hope and console for our soul.”

Joanna de Ângelis Spiritist Study Group is formed by individuals. Indivíduals that, with small steps, propose themselves to face their numerous personnal difficulties. Indivíduals that try to gladly offer what is best inside themselves to the maintenaince of this refugee of like souls. Corage and off course bits of love –Nowadays less mistaken- congragates us in this environment that also offers shelter in the middle of the turbulance of our daily lives.
To this invisible people that surround us on this individual walk, holding hands searching the fountain of Divine love, we ask courage and humility to always deserve the Grace of work in the plantation of peace in our inner soul. Sympathizers, participants and workers, it is also with your help that this premise always offered confort and keep offering it, for as long as our Father permits! Events in 2011-12
Sep 18 -The World on the Street: Not for profit organization that celebrates the canadian reading and writing and champions of literature in an annual free festival in an open space with about 218 thousand visitors . JASSG participated on this event, as a pilot project, with a small quiosk, where we had the opportunity to talk about the Spiritism, anwers questions, sell books and advertise the activities of the Spiritist groups of Toronto. The return was satisfactory including some people participating later in the III Toronto Spiritis Weekend.
Oct 29-30 - III Toronto Spiritist Weekend: Being held since 2007, every 2 years, the "III Toronto Spiritist Weekend" offers the opportunity of integration, learning and exchange of information, and consists in an important forum of discussion for researchers and spiritist workers involded in the spiritism thematic. This event counts with the participation of the groups of Toronto, Mississauga and Montreal. This year we had the participation of Vanessa Anseloni, of Balimore. Be aware.... The “IV Toronto Spiritist Weekend” is already booked for October 2013.
Nov 11-12 – Channeled painting with Valdelice Salum: Valdelice Salum is a Psycopictografic medium and she has been developing her work for over 30 years. In the beginning of her journey, she was uncouraged by the medium Chico Xavier to dedicate herself to the channeled painting. The pictures are painted by the sensibility of the medium being her the receiver and the distributor of energies, for both the painting and the public participating. The painters (spirits) manipulate the public’s energy as well as of the mediums that are present to help the discarnated in search of balance, changing the negative energie of the sick ones with the positive energie that is generated with the work. It is worth seeing it! It is always very rewarding to participate in this event.

The Gospel Study in Portuguese
The Gospel study takes place every week and its objective is to give the participants the opportunity to know, discuss and reflect the themes present in each chapter of the Gospel According to Spiritism. Every year the themes are focused on different aspects and are supported by spiritist literature. Meetings: 49 Participants: 695 Average per meeting: 14
Study of Spiritism in English
The main purpose of this work is to fulfill, in the English
language, the ideas of Kardec about a systematic study of Spiritism
principles. Accordingly, the interested person has an opportunity to
build up a main understanding of the scientific, moral and philosophical
aspects of Spiritism. This is an open and ongoing study to serve the
English speaking community. This study has as a reference the
foundation books by Allan Kardec and Spiritist literature available in
the English language. Meetings: 42 Participants: 295 Average per meeting: 7
Estudo Sistematizado do Espiritismo (Portuguese)
O terceiro grupo de Estudo Sistematizado do Espiritismo promovido pelo JASSG teve início no mês de fevereiro de 2012 e é realizado em grupo fechado. Objetiva o estudo metódico, contínuo e sério do Espiritismo, com programação fundamentada na Codificação Espírita e outros autores que a enriquecem. Reuniões: 8 Participantes: 15
Grupo de Estudos Interativo de Espiritismo e Vivência Espírita (Portuguese)
Em 14 encontros este grupo de estudo proposto pela autora espírita Saara Nousiainen é direcionado à vivência do Espiritismo. Cada encontro é dividido em duas partes: a primeira é dedicada ao estudo dos principais ensinamentos espíritas. A segunda, dedica-se à vivência dos ensinamentos, com recursos simples, mas bastante eficientes para motivar os participantes à transformação moral. Os estudos, sem serem aprofundados, são abrangentes, dando ao participante uma noção clara sobre tudo o que se refere ao Espiritismo. Fraternal counseling (Portuguese/English) The entrance door to the spiritist house, the fraternal
counseling receive everyone who comes to the Spiritist group seeking counseling and orientation for physical, pshycological and/or spiritual problems. From this meeting the person is directed to a spiritual treatment with Passe, which has the objective to promote the energetic, physical and spiritual balance and to help in the healing process. Mediumistic educational and practice group (Portuguese) This group has been studying the Spiritism for many years, particularly, mediumship. The volunteer-workers are
educated to exercise the mediumship with responsibility. The study and education are regular, always following the codified Spiritism and complementary spiritist literature. Meetings: 49 Participants: 452 Average per meeting: 9
Prayer Time (Portuguese/English) This activity that started in October 2010, is an open group activity, for everyone who wants to reflect and thank God for
all the blessings received, or to seek support to face difficult times. Prayer is a precious resource to restore the collective and individual equilibrium, that allows us to change our mental vibrations and to communicate with God. Meetings: 11 Participants: 75 Average per meeting: 7

It has a collection of over 900 items among books, DVDs, CDs and Video-tapes under the spiritist theme, in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. Registered associates: 73 Lending Items: 134
Strategic Plan (Portuguese/English)
Annual activity that takes place every second Sunday in January. Its objective is to plan the activities for the year as well as develop programs to attend the community needs and demands according to the JASSG material and human resources available. Participants: 22

Optimize the communication and availability of information to a greater number of volunteer-workers, members and anyone interested. The information is available on JASSG´s website, informative reports and other sources on Internet such as Facebook and Orkut. Barbecue
An annual celebration among Spiritist groups and the community. This event also has a fund-raising character in order to help those groups in their maintenance. Participants: 129
Fraternal Lunch Fraternal Lunch is a fund-raising activity that takes place in
the last Sunday of each month. It is an opportunity to promote a raternal socialization of its participants. Number of lunches: 10 Participants: 545 Average per lunch: 55
Workshop of Portuguese and Brazilian Culture for Children
It is a partnership program between JASSG and CAIS ( Center of support and social integration Brazil-Canada). The classes have the objective to motivate children to read and write in Portuguese as well to enrich their contact with different aspects of Brazilian culture.
English Classes for Adults
Classes are offered in schedules that are compatible with daytime workers. It is focused on basic English knowlegde, encouraging conversation and increasing vocabulary.
