How it was created
The Lacoste brand was founded by the tennis player René Lacoste with André Gillier in 1933. The tennis player was nicknamed "Le Crocodile" by the American press during the Davis Cup in 1927 because of a bet worth a folder of crocodile skin. The animal eventually became the trademark symbol.
