Muita gente a espera de uma “Killer Application” para o IPv6
O Driver para o IPv6 é a sobrevivência da Internet
=>
Não é uma ideia correcta
Não se trata de o que o “IPv6 pode fazer melhor que o IPv4”
MAS SIM
Será que a internet como a cohecemos pode continuar a operar

• IPv6 is a network layer protocol.
• It was born in 1994 and was designed to succeed IPv4 and address the IPv4 exhaustion space problem
• IPv6 is DIFFERENT and NOT backwards compatible with IPv4
• IPv6 though was designed with mechanisms to address IPv4 transition

• An IPv4 address is a 32-bit long number allowing for 4,294,967,296 (almost 4.3x10^9)number of IP Addresses
• In IPv6 we have 128-bits. This gives us 340,282,366,920,938,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (more than 340x10^36) IP Addresses.
• So in IPv6 we have more than 7.9x10^28 times the total amount of IPv4 address space range
• This gives us ~ 6.67x10^23 IP addresses available per square meter of earth surface
