COMPROMETIDOS CON BALEARESCOMMITTED TO THE BALEARIC ISLANDSBaleares vuelve a convertirse en una referencia mundial del deporte de la vela ya que como cada año la Bahía de Palma de Mallorca acoge la Copa del Rey, un evento que convoca a miles de afi cionados a este deporte. Esta regata se ha convertido edición tras edición –y ya van 34- en un hito para los amantes de la vela y más de un centenar de barcos de más de 20 nacionalidades se dan cita estos días en estas aguas.

MAPFRE se une, un año más, a esta regata convirtiéndose en patrocinador principal de esta prueba, reforzando así nuestra relación con el mundo del deporte, con el que los más de 38.000 empleados de la compañía compartimos afán de superación y vocación de liderazgo. Este patrocinio nos acerca aún más y de una forma muy especial a las Islas Baleares, una región con la que estamos fi rmemente comprometidos.

Estoy seguro de que esta edición será, como lo han sido las anteriores, un auténtico éxito para la ciudad y para los que apoyamos esta competición y ello gracias al trabajo intenso y duro de todos: instituciones, organizadores y, sobre todo, a los deportistas, que con su entrega y tesón demuestran que pueden conseguirse nuevos retos. Once more the Balearic Islands have become an international benchmark of sailing since every year the Bay of Palma de Mallorca hosts the Copa del Rey, an event that attracts thousands of fans to the sport. This regatta has become year after year - and we’re now in the 34th edition - a milestone for lovers of sailing and the more than one hundred yachts of over 20 nationalities that gather here these days in these waters.

And MAPFRE, once again, supports this regatta becoming its main sponsor, thus strengthening our relationship with the world of sport, with which the more than 38,000 employees of the company share the desire and vocation of leadership. This sponsorship brings us even closer in a very special way to the Balearic Islands, a region to which we are fi rmly committed.

I’m sure that this edition will be, as have been the past ones, a huge success for the city and for those who support this competition, and this thanks to the intensive and hard work of all: institutions, organizers and, above all, the sailors, who show with their dedication and tenacity that new challenges can be achieved. UN AÑO ESPLENDOROSOA SPLENDID YEARLlegará un año en que necesariamente no podremos superar nuestro propio listón, dado que el espacio del que disponemos en el Real Club Náutico de Palma es limitado, pero ese año no será 2015. Las cifras de participación de la 34 Copa del Rey MAPFRE no tienen precedentes. Estamos por encima de los 120 barcos que nos marcamos como techo, y hemos conseguido que nuestra regata, que es la regata de todos los mallorquines, sea reconocida en todo el mundo.

Un año más, acogeremos en nuestras instalaciones a deportistas de 23 países, lo que confi rma el afi anzamiento del proceso de internaciona-lización que iniciamos en 2008, cuando la Copa del Rey MAPFRE se convirtió en una competición abierta a las diferentes maneras de entender el deporte de la vela. La elección de aquel modelo nos ha llevado a los años de mayor esplendor deportivo de la regata. Como repito cada año, nos enorgullecemos de contar con los mejores barcos y los mejores navegantes del mundo. Su confi anza contribuye al prestigio de nuestro club.

Es evidente que el RCNP no sería el mismo sin la Copa del Rey MAPFRE. Y me atrevo a decir que incluso nuestra ciudad no sería la misma sin este evento, no desde luego para los que amamos el mar.

Estoy convencido de que en los próximos días viviremos una de las mejores ediciones de nuestra ya larga historia. Lo tenemos todo para que así sea: una bahía inigualable, un club de primer nivel, un equipo de trabajo experimentado, una fl ota impresionante y, sobre todo, la pasión que nos lleva a intentar ser un poco mejores cada año.

A year will come in which we will not be able to exceed our own expectations, given that the space we have at the Real Club Náutico de Palma is limited, but that year won’t be 2015. The participation fi gures of the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE are unprecedented. We have more than the 120 boats we set as the limit, and have managed that our regatta, which is the regatta of all the Majorcans, is famous worldwide.

Once again, we welcome sailors from 23 countries, which confi rms the consolidation of the internationalization process we started in 2008, when the Copa del Rey MAPFRE became a competition open to the diff erent ways of understanding the sport of sailing. The choice of that model has led us to the Regatta’s years of greatest sporting splendor. As I repeat every year, we pride ourselves on having the best boats and the best sailors in the world. Their trust and confi dence contribute to the prestige of our club.

It is evident that the RCNP wouldn’t be the same without the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. And I dare say that even our city wouldn’t be the same without this event, especially for those of us who love the sea.

I’m convinced that in the coming days we’re going to experience one of the best editions of our long history. We have everything for this to be so: a unique bay, a top-level club, an experienced team, an impressive fl eet and, above all, the passion that leads us to trying to be a little better each year.

UN HONORAN HONOREs un honor ser el alcalde de la ciudad que acoge la 34 edición de la Copa del Rey, la regata más importante del Mediterráneo. Palma se convierte un año más en el escenario de una de las competiciones de vela más importantes, un auténtico evento de referencia para la náutica, que proporciona a nuestra ciudad una extraordinaria proyección internacional.

Quiero felicitar especialmente al Real Club Náutico de Palma por la organización de esta 34 edición, como también a los patrocinadores y participantes para que continúen confi ando en esta competición. Gracias a ellos, año tras año, nuestra ciudad se consolida en el mapa de los eventos náuticos deportivos más importantes del mundo.

Durante los próximos siete días, y más que nunca, Palma demostrará que es una ciudad abierta al mar. La bahía se convierte en el epicentro de una actividad náutica de primer orden, y la ciudad, en su turno, pone a disposición de los visitantes una oferta turística, gastronómica y cultural de primer nivel- y que seguiremos trabajando para seguir potenciándola aún más.

Palma será un escaparate inigualable en estos siete días, porque centenares de personas de todo el mundo visitarán nuestra ciudad con motivo de esta competición, y miles de ellos tendrán los ojos puestos en nuestra ciudad para seguir el evento. Es una oportunidad única para mostrar y demostrar que Palma es mucho más que un escaparate privilegiado, que somos un ejemplo de ciudad viva y atractiva, abierta al mar y al mundo, y cuidadosa de su patrimonio y del legado cultural.

It is an honor to be the Mayor of the city hosting the 34th Edition of La Copa del Rey, the most important regatta in the Mediterranean. Palma is once again the venue for one of the most important sailing competitions, a true benchmark event for sailing, which gives our city extraordinary international projection.

I especially wish to congratulate the Real Club Náutico de Palma for the organization of this 34th Edition, as well as all sponsors and participants who continue being committed to this competition. Thanks to them, year after year, our city is consolidated in the map of the world’s most important yachting events.

Over the next seven days, and more than ever, Palma will show it is a city open to the sea. The Bay becomes the epicenter of a major sailing event, and the city, in turn, off ers visitors a fi rst-level tourist, gastronomic and cultural off er - which we shall continue to work to improve even more.

Palma will be an unparalleled showcase these seven days, since hundreds of people from all over the world will visit our city on the occasion of this competition, and thousands will have their eyes on our city to follow the event. CAPITAL NÁUTICASAILING CAPITALEl verano en las Illes Balears no se entiende sin la presencia de los deportistas de élite que se citan cada año en la Copa del Rey de Vela. Cada agosto, Palma se convierte en la capital náutica de decenas de tripulaciones que transforman la bahía en un espectáculo de primer nivel que se sigue desde toda Europa. Porque reúne a 1.400 regatistas que han participado en competiciones como la Copa América, las Olimpiadas o la Vuelta al Mundo y que sacarán el máximo rendimiento de los 125 barcos inscritos en esta edición.Después de 34 años ininterrumpidos, la Copa del Rey mantiene una larga unión sentimental con la ciudad de Palma. Pero también es una relación que posiciona a la ciudad y a la isla como un destino de alto nivel que deja una importante inversión económica. No sólo durante la semana de competición sino que también se extiende durante todo el año en el sector náutico balear.La Copa del Rey no sólo es un gran activo deportivo y turístico. También es un protagonista imprescindible de la memoria reciente de nuestro archipiélago. Es una competición deportiva y un gran evento social que atrae a miles de personas, tanto a los que viven en Mallorca como a los que nos visitan. Summer in the Balearic Islands cannot be understood without the presence of the elite sportsmen and women gathering here every year for La Copa del Rey de Vela. Every August, Palma becomes the sailing capital for the dozens of crews that turn the Bay into a top-level event followed from all over Europe. Because it brings together 1,400 sailors who have participated in competitions such as the America’s Cup, the Olympics or the Volvo Ocean Race and that maximize the performance of the 125 boats registered for this edition. After 34 consecutive years, the Copa not only has a long sentimental bond with the city of Palma, but it is also a relationship that positions both the city and the island as a top-level destination with an important economic investment, during the competition week as well as all year round in the Balearic yachting sector.The Copa del Rey is not just a great sport and tourist event. It is also a vital player in the recent memory of our archipelago. It is a sports competition and a grand social event that attracts thousands of people, both local and visitors. Los orígenes de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE se remontan a 1982, cuando la Asociación Nacional de Cruceros organizaba con el Real Club Náutico de Palma la primera edición de una regata abierta a todas las clases en tiempo compensado. Aceptaron el reto más de medio centenar de participantes. El italiano “Nan” era el encargado de inaugurar el libro de oro de la regata, al que seguirían el “Barracuda” de Pepín González (1983) y el “Bribón” de José Cusí (1984 y 1985), sentando la tradición de que S.M. el Rey Don Juan Carlos navegase en “su” regata.

The Copa del Rey MAPFRE began back in 1982, when the National Yacht Association, along with the Real Club Náutico de Palma, organized the fi rst edition of this regatta, which was open to all categories under the handicap system. More than 50 participants accepted the challenge. The Italian “Nan” was the fi rst boat to win this competition, followed by Pepín González’s “Barracuda” (1983) and José Cusí’s “Bribón” (1984 and 1985), initiating the tradition of King Juan Carlos of Spain sailing in “His” regatta.

Mediterranean regatta calendar for more than three decades now. Its history is one of the evolution of the national and international fleets that meet here each summer in the Bay of Palma to enjoy unbeatable sailing conditions.

Tras incorporarse en 1987 al circuito mundial de la clase Maxi, en 1988 se alcanzaban los 106 participantes, divididos por primera vez en dos clases: IOR e IMS. El principio de la década de 1990 fue de dominio español entre una fl ota internacional consolidada en el entorno del centenar de unidades. Fueron años de cambios en el sistema de compensación de tiempos, que desembocarían en los IMS Regata y Crucero, divididos según esloras. El podio hablaba casi exclusivamente español, dominado por nombres como Josele y Noluco Doreste, José Luis Suevos, Pedro Campos, Jaime Yllera, Pelayo de la Mata, Manuel Chirivella o José Manuel Cardesín.

Con el cambio de siglo, el IMS evolucionó hasta ramifi carse en las clases 500 –después 570–, 600 y 670, llegando con fuerza las clases Monotipo y Box-Rule. El “Caixa Galicia” de Vicente Tirado hacía historia encadenando tres títulos consecutivos: 2002, 2003 y 2004.

After joining the world circuit of Maxi yachts in 1987, in 1988, 106 participants registered for this competition and were divided for the first time into two categories: IOR and IMS.

At the beginning of the 90s, there were mainly Spanish participants within a consolidated international fleet that had around 100 boats. They were years of changes to the handicap system, which led to the IMS Cruiser and IMS Regatta categories, divided according to the length of the yachts. Winners were mainly Spanish, with sailors such as Josele and Noluco Doreste, José Luis Suevos, Pedro Campos, Jaime Yllera, Pelayo de la Mata, Manuel Chirivella or José Manuel Cardesín.

In the 21st century, IMS carried on developing and was finally divided into classes 500 –then 570–, 600 and 670, and finally One-Design and Box-Rule vessels. Vicente Tirado’s “Caixa Galicia” won three titles in a row: 2002, 2003 and 2004.

En 2005 debutaba la clase TP52, que trajo a la bahía de Palma la competición en tiempo real. Esta fórmula se consolidaba en 2007, copando ya la mitad de la flota cuando se iniciaba la reordenación de las clases en tiempo compensado con la potenciación de la nueva IRC.

En 2009, la regata sentaba las bases para remodelar su estructura de competición. Además de IRC, se incluía RI para ir homogeneizando la flota en tiempo compensado, manteniendo la apuesta por el tiempo real con los monotipos (Swan 45, X35 y X-42), y los Box-Rule (TP52).

En 2010 hubo seis coronas: IRC A, IRC B, RI 1, RI 2, y los monotipos X-35 y X-41. La crisis ya azotaba a la flota, pero aún así se rozaba el centenar de participantes.

In 2005, the TP52 class competed for the fi rst time, bringing the real-time competition to the Bay of Palma. This formula was consolidated in 2007, having half of the fl eet within this class at the time that classes under the handicap system were being reorganized, promoting the new IRC class.

In 2009, the Regatta set the basis for renewing its competition structure. Besides IRC, RI was also included to homogenize the fl eet under the handicap system, still betting on the real-time system with One-Design (Swan 45, X35 y X-42) and Box-Rule vessels (TP52).

In 2010, there were six categories: IRC A, IRC B, RI 1, RI 2, and the X-35 and X-41 One-Design vessels. Although the economic crisis was already hitting the fl eet, the regatta gathered almost one hundred participants.

En el 30 aniversario de 2011 debutaban dos nuevas clases (Melges 32 y J80) y se vivía la histórica victoria del TP52 de José Cusí, único armador que había participado en todas las ediciones, y cuya saga “Bribón” se despedía en Palma de la alta competición. Sexto título para el barco y el armador con mejor palmarés en la historia de la prueba.

117 boats from 22 countries competed in August 2014 for the 33rd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, which will go down in history as the fi rst regatta involving Felipe VI as King of Spain. Six days of competition decided the winners in the eight participating classes, which were not known until the last regatta of the Championship. The fi nal glory was for the American “Shockwave” (Gaastra IRC 0) and “Quantum Racing” (Barclays 52 Super Series), the Italian “Hurakan” (Gaastra IRC 1) and “Lelagain” (Nespresso X-35), the Russian “Bronenosec” (Gazprom Swan 60), and the Spanish “Rats on Fire” (BMW ORC 1), “Movistar” (BMW ORC 2) and “Noticia” (Herbalife J80).

Seis jornadas de competición decidieron a los ganadores en las ocho clases participantes, que no se conocieron hasta la última manga del campeonato. La gloria fi nal fue para los estadounidenses “Shockwave” (Gaastra IRC 0) y “Quantum Racing” (Barclays 52 Super Series), los italianos “Hurakan” (Gaastra IRC 1) y “Lelagain” (Nespresso X-35), el ruso “Bronenosec” (Gazprom Swan 60), y los españoles “Rats on Fire” (BMW ORC 1), “Movistar” (BMW ORC 2) y “Noticia” (Herbalife J80).

In 2011, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Regatta with two new classes (Melges 32 and J80). That year, we witnessed the historic victory of José Cusí’s TP52 yacht, the only owner to have participated in all the editions and whose “Bribón” saga said goodbye to high competition in Palma. It was the sixth title for that ship and owner, holding the best results in the history of the Regatta.

Más de 120 equipos lucharán por la 34 edición de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE, distribuidos en ocho clases y luciendo banderas de 23 nacionalidades. Alemania, Argentina, Bélgica, Brasil, Chile, Ecuador, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Gran Bretaña, Holanda, Islas Vírgenes Británicas, Italia, Japón, Letonia, Malta, Perú, Portugal, Rusia, Suecia, Suiza, Tailandia y Turquía tendrán representación en Palma.

No faltarán varios ganadores de 2014 que regresan para defender sus títulos, como los estadounidenses “Shockwave” (Gaastra IRC 0) y “Quantum Racing” (TP52 Super Series), los españoles “Rats on Fire” (BMW ORC 1) y “Movistar” (BMW ORC 2), o el italiano “Lelagain” (Air Europa X-35).

La clase Gaastra IRC 0 reúne a los barcos más potentes, incluyendo sendas unidades del impresionante diseño oceánico Volvo Open 70: el maltés “L4” de Joern Larsen y el francés “SFS” de Lionel Pean. Su programa de competición consta de 11 pruebas.

Su intenso menú incluye seis jornadas de apasionantecompetición en la bahía de Palma y un entretenido programasocial en el Real Club Náutico de Palma.

The 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE is held between 1st and 8th

August. Its intense menu includes six days of exciting competition in the Bay of Palma and an entertaining social program in the Real Club Náutico de Palma.

More than 120 teams will fi ght for the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE, divided into eight classes and fl ying fl ags of 23 countries. Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Chile, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Peru, Portugal Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand Turkey, and United States will be represented in Palma.

Some of last year’s winners will be back to defend their titles, e.g. the American “Shockwave” (Gaastra IRC 0) and “Quantum Racing” (TP52 Super Series), the Spanish “Rats on Fire” (BMW ORC 1) and “Movistar” (BMW ORC 2), or the Italian “Lelagain” (Air Europa X-35).

The Gaastra IRC 0 class brings together the most powerful boats, including the impressive ocean design Volvo Open 70: Joern Larsen’s Maltese “L4” and Lionel Pean’s French “SFS”. Its competition program consists of 11 races.

La clase Rías Baixas IRC 1 cuenta con una heterogénea fl ota formada por barcos de entre 42 y 80 pies de eslora (de 12,8 a 24,4 metros) y ocho nacionalidades diferentes, incluyendo a los españoles “Plis Play” y “Duende”. También disputarán hasta 11 mangas.

En categoría TP52 Super Series compiten los equipos más profesionales de la 34 Copa del Rey MAPFRE. Una docena de TP52s de ocho nacionalidades se enfrentarán en un máximo de diez pruebas para resolver el título de Palma, cuarta cita del circuito europeo de la categoría.

Las divisiones BMW ORC 1 y BMW ORC 2 concentran el grueso de la fl ota, con más de 70 participantes, que disputarán hasta 11 mangas. Los rivales a batir son los dominadores de las dos últimas ediciones: el “Rats on Fire” de Rafael Carbonell en BMW ORC 1 y el “Movistar” de Enrique Terol en BMW ORC 2.

La clase Singular Kitchen Soto 40 supone el regreso a la Copa del Rey MAPFRE de los espectaculares monotipos Soto 40, cuya igualdad provoca disputados pasos por boya y llegadas de auténtico foto fi nish. Tienen programadas diez pruebas.

La clase Air Europa X-35 reúne a nueve unidades monotipo X-35 de cinco nacionalidades, que se enfrentarán en un máximo de 12 mangas. Por último, la clase Herbalife J80 cuenta con cerca de 20 barcos y gran peso de la armada española, con una docena de equipos. También disputarán hasta 12 pruebas.

The Rías Baixas IRC 1 class has a heterogeneous fl eet consisting of vessels of between 42 and 80 ft in length (from 12.8 to 24.4 meters) and eight diff erent nationalities, including the Spanish “Plis Play” and “Duende”. There will be up to 11 stages.

The TP52 Super Series category is where the more professional teams compete in the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE. A dozen of TP52s of eight nationalities will face a maximum of ten races to resolve the Palma title, the fourth race of the category’s European circuit.

Modalidad que permite competir juntos a barcos de diferentes características, garantizando la máxima igualdad mediante la aplicación de fórmulas de compensación de tiempos. En la 34 Copa del Rey MAPFRE navegan en compensado las clases Gaastra IRC 0, Rías Baixas IRC 1, BMW ORC 1 y BMW ORC 2.

La fórmula IRC es un sistema de medición desarrollado por el RORC (Royal Ocean Racing Club) y la UNCL (Union Nationale pour La Course au Large) que clasifi ca una amplia gama de monocascos con la asignación de ratings basado en un factor de corrección de tiempo único. This category allows yachts of diff erent characteristics to compete in the same race, assuring the maximum equity thanks to applying formulas to correct times. In the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the following classes compete under this system: Gaastra IRC 0, Rías Baixas y RC1, BMW ORC 1 and BMW ORC 2.

The IRC formula is a measurement system developed by the RORC (Royal Ocean Racing Club) and the UNCL (Union Nationale pour La Courseau Large), which classifi es a wide range of monohulls applying ratings based on a unique-time correction factor. TP52 Super Series

El TP52 es un monocasco de 52 pies de eslora (14,85 metros) diseñado bajo regla box-rule, por lo que todos los barcos deben cumplir unas dimensiones y pesos para garantizar la máxima igualdad pero con cierta libertad de diseño. Compiten en el circuito 52 Super Series en Estados Unidos y en Europa. La 34 Copa del Rey MAPFRE es la cuarta cita de su circuito europeo.

The TP52 is a One-Design yacht of 52 feet in length (14.85 meters), designed according to the box rule, which means that all ships have to meet specifi c measurements and weights in order to guarantee equity, but with certain freedom when it comes to the design. This class races in the 52 Super Series Circuit in US and Europe. The 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE is the fourth regatta in the European circuit.

Singular Kitchen Soto 40

Los Soto 40 son monotipos de 40 pies de eslora (12,3 metros), estrenados en 2008 y construidos en Argentina. Son unidades idénticas en las que sólo pueden elegirse libremente las velas y la electrónica. Rápidos, ligeros y maniobrables, llevan botalón, mayor de cabeza cuadrada y doble backstay. El peso de la tripulación no puede superar los 770 kg (7-10 tripulantes).

The Soto 40 are One-Design yachts of 40 feet in length (12.3 meters), fi rst used in 2008 and built in Argentina. They are identical units in which only sails and electronics can be selected freely. Fast, lightweight and maneuverable, they have a square outrigger and a double backstay. The crew weight cannot exceed 770 kg (7-10 crew members).

Muchos factores intervienen en el éxito de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE. Se habla de la

calidad de las tripulaciones, del escenario de la bahía de Palma o de la meteorología, pero nada funcionaría sin la profesionalidad y entrega del equipo humano que trabaja en su organización.

Many factors are involved in the success of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. Everyone

talks about the quality of crews, the scenery of the Bay of Palma or the weather, but nothing would work without the professionalism and dedication of the human team working in its ORGANIZATION.

Más de 200 personas trabajan en la organización de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE. En tierra, alrededor de 100 se encargan de marine-ría, puerto, ofi cina de regatas, seguridad, limpieza, logística, hos-telería,… No hay pieza pequeña en un engranaje tan complejo.

Cada día de regatas, un equipo formado por 53 personas salen al agua para garantizar que cerca de 1.200 regatistas disfruten de la competición. Su trabajo comienza “a las 08:00h, cuando llega-mos al RCNP para preparar todo, ver el parte y las expectativas del día”, explica Gaspar Morey, Ofi cial Principal de Regata. “A las 11:00h salimos al mar, a las 12:00h estamos en el campo y a las 13:00h empezamos. En una jornada normal estaremos en el agua hasta las 18:00-18:30h”.

Para gestionar la competición diaria de las ocho clases partici-pantes en los tres campos de regatas se envían al agua más de una veintena de embarcaciones. “Disponemos de tres barcos del Comité y doce neumáticas de balizadores, seis neumáticas para los Jurys, tres neumáticas de medidores, una neumática de sal-vamento y logística, y una neumática para el Ofi cial Principal de Regata”.

Tras la última prueba del día, el equipo regresa al RCNP, donde “tenemos que gestionar todos los informes, clasifi caciones, pro-testas,… Y tomarnos algo en la terraza con la excusa de hablar con los participantes y escuchar sus comentarios por si podemos mejorar algo para el día siguiente. Solemos salir del club alrede-dor de las 21:00h”. Por lo menos…

More than 200 people work in the organization of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. On land, around 100 are responsible for the sailors, harbor, regatta offi ce, security, cleaning, logistics, ca-tering... There are no minor parts in such a complex gear as-sembly.

Each Regatta day, a team consisting of 53 people go out onto water to ensure that about 1,200 sailors enjoy the competi-tion. After the last race of the day, the team returns to the RCNP, where «we have to deal with all the reports, rankings, com-plaints,… And have a drink on the terrace with the excuse of talking with the participants and hearing their comments in case we can improve something for the next day. We usually leave the club around 9 pm”. At the earliest...

programa social en tierra la convierte en el evento del verano en Palma y en todo un referente entre las regatas del circuito internacional.

The Copa del Rey MAFPRE is not only experienced on the water.

A full social program on land has become the event of the summer in Palma and a benchmark of international regatta events.

Este año, el programa social de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE está garantizado gracias al apoyo de fi r-mas como bodegas Muga, champán Bollinger, ginebra Nordés, cervezas Heineken, jamones 10 Vetas, hoteles Iberostar, frutas Zespri, cocinas Singular Kitchen o Pachá. Participantes, socios del RCNP, patrocinadores e invitados disfrutarán del completo menú de gastronomía y entrete-nimiento que reafi rman cada año su reputación como el evento de referencia en el Mediterráneo. La agenda de la 34 Copa del Rey MAPFRE co-mienza el 31 de julio con la presentación a pren-sa en el RCNP y fi naliza el 9 de agosto con el concierto clausura del tenor Juan Diego Flórez y la Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares en el Auditorium de Palma. Aunque los más animados tal vez prefi eran despedirse en la tradicional fi es-ta Flower Power organizada en Pachá. El programa completo de actos sociales está dis-ponible en las páginas 70 y 71.

La Fiesta del Regatista es el referente anual para las tri-pulaciones, y regresa este año de mano de Nordés con una degustación de paella en el Crew Village RCNP.

El incomparable marco del Real Club Náutico de Palma es el lugar perfecto para disfrutar de la regata en tierra. Por las mañanas, y antes de poner rumbo al campo de regatas, los participantes cargarán pilas con la fruta fres-ca de Zespri. Patrocinadores e invitados despedirán a la fl ota desde el privilegiado balcón del restaurante El Náutico mientras disfrutan del Singular Kitchen Iberos-tar Brunch. Al término de cada jornada, el Crew Village RCNP reci-birá a los equipos para que repongan fuerzas con una amplia oferta degustación de productos de nuestros patrocinadores. Novedad en esta edición es la presen-cia de una fabulosa cocina en forma de barco instalada en la terraza del club donde se realizará un entretenido showcooking. Un año más, la animación correrá a cargo de Pachá.

The incomparable setting of the Real Club Náutico de Palma is the perfect place to enjoy the Regatta on shore.In the morning, and before heading out to the regat-ta area, participants will charge batteries with Zespri fresh fruit. Sponsors and guests will wave goodbye to the fl eet from the privileged balcony of El Náutico Restaurant while enjoying the Singular Kitchen Ibero-star Brunch. At the end of each day, the Crew Village RCNP will receive the teams and help them recharge their bat-teries off ering them our sponsors’ products. New at this edition is the presence of a fabulous boat-shaped kitchen installed on the club terrace where entertain-ing show cooking will be held. Once again, Pachá will organize the party.

El Real Club Náutico de Palma se viste de gala en una noche mágica en la que la gastrono-mía, la música y el ambiente destilan exclusividad.

• Entrega de TrofeosPalacio Real de La Almudaina8 de agosto, 21:00hAl atardecer del último día de regatas se celebra la Entrega de Trofeos. La ceremonia, presidida histó-ricamente por miembros de la Familia Real, tendrá lugar este año en el emblemático Palacio Real de La Almudaina, edifi cio del siglo XIV situado junto a la Catedral de Mallorca. Será el momento en que las tripulaciones ganadoras reciban el premio a su esfuerzo: la preciada Copa del Rey MAPFRE.

• Oweners Dinner BMW White Night. RCNP terraceAugust 6th, 9 pmThe most exclusive and glamorous moment of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE is the Oweners Dinner – BMW White Night, a gala event bringing together owners of the participating yachts, sponsors and person-alities from the social and business world. The Real Club Náutico de Palma gets all decked out for a magical night in which gastronomy, music and the ambience all ooze exclusivity.

• Prize Giving CeremonyPalacio Real de La Almudaina August 8th, 9 pm.The Prize Giving Ceremony ceremony is held at sunset on the last day of racing. This year the event, historically presided over by members of the Royal Family, will be held in the emblematic Royal Palace of La Almudaina, a 14th-century building next to Mallorca Cathedral. It will be the moment the win-ning crews will receive the reward to all their ef-forts: the treasured Copa del Rey MAPFRE.

Fundado en 1948, el Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP) se encuentra ubicado en pleno corazón de la bahía de Palma, un emplazamiento natural de enlace entre la capital palmesana y el mar. Sus instalaciones, totalmente remodeladas entre 1999 y 2004, cuentan con una amplia oferta de servicios para sus socios, con dos piscinas (exterior e interior), una completa biblioteca, cuatro locales de restauración (Restaurante el Náutico, Café Terraza Corb Marí, Restaurante La Cantina y Bar Café), cinco salas multifunción (Sala Magna, Sala Tramuntana, Sala Xaloc, Sala de Prensa y Sala de Televisión) y un gimnasio.

El RCNP dispone de 946 amarres, 589 de los cuales están reservados a los socios y el resto a transeúntes, compañías de chárter y otros servicios.

Founded in 1948, the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP) is located in the heart of the Bay of Palma, the natural link between the capital of the island and the sea. Its facilities, totally renewed between 1999 and 2004, are equipped with a large range of services for its club members, with two swimming pools (outdoor and indoor), a large library, four catering premises (Náutico Restaurant, Corb Marí Café-Terrace, La Cantina Restaurant and Café-Bar), fi ve multipurpose rooms (Magna Room, Tramuntana Room, Xaloc Room, Press Room and TV Room) and a gym.

The RCNP has 946 moorings, 589 of which are reserved for club members and the rest are for visitors, charter companies and other services.

Its renowned sailing schools (basics and competition for Optimist, 420, Laser and Laser 4.7 classes), sea schools and kayaking schools (basics, summer and competition) contribute to foster the passion for the sea and sports.
