Ton Almoo no Mercado Central

El Mercado Central de Santiago es el lugar con mayor concentracin de locales

gastronmicos que comercializan platos tpicos de la regin. En sus instalaciones se

pueden disfrutar variados platos provenientes de la zona martima o de ros, de las

manos de los mejores cocineros de la Regin Metropolitana.

The Plaza de Armas Well talk about the founding of Chile as a republic and how this Spanish

colonial past continues to influence Chiles kitchen.

La Vega and the Market District- No. A combination of 4 markets, La Vega Central has been thelargest market in the center of Santiago dating back over 200 years. Here we will stop for tastings

of a trypical Chilean street food and a refreshing beverage at different points.

After our walk through we will try one of Chiles homemade classics. Cranberry beans (Porotos

Grandas) or a warm, comforting soup called Cazuela. Well talk about the contradictions between

restaurant and home cooked food and some of the typical ingredients that go into this dishes.

After the sampling its a great moment for a drink. Well try a homemade cola de mono, a

creamy drink served normally around the holidays.

Next its on to the Mercado Central fish market. With a coastline of over 4000 KM Chile has an

ample and impressive offer of fish and seafood. Well sample an empanada filled with local

shellfish. (Alternatives available upon request) and a white wine from the Casablanca Valley.

Next we are back into the car to head uptown to Santiagos commercial district for a sampling of

Chiles emerging gourmet industry in a premium gourmet store called Coquniaria, in the

basement of the W Hotel. Here well have a delicious tasting of Chilean gourmet products. After our gourmet tasting well walk through the green Plaza Peruand indulge in one of Chiles

sweet pastries along with a coffee.

After the coffee back drop off at the hotel and final farewell.
