There once was a gardener whotended his garden with great care. But

one morning he came to his gardenand found that his plants wereunhappy and complaining.

Era uma vez um jardineiro que plantou um formoso jardim. Mas um dia, suas árvores e plantas reclamavam num choro sem fim.



Then blurted the vine, “I don’t like how my branches

twine. I wish I were tall, and bore big fruit like the

peach tree.”

“My dear geranium,” said the gardener. “Why are youcrying? Your once lovely petals look so sad.”

“I cannot be content, “ cried the geranium, “because

I don’t have a sweet scent like the lilac.”

What am I do to?” asked the gardener. “My garden isfilled with such sadness.”

Então retrucou a parreira: “Sou só uma trepadeira,galho curto é uma humilhação. Ah se eu fosse esguio,como o caule macio, assim como o pé de mamão!”

“Oh! Gerânio, querida, estás triste da vida, não temostras como é de costume!”

Gerânio soltou seu queixume: “Nada me satisfaz, poisnão sou um lilás exalando um rico perfume!”

O jardineiro exclamou: “Meu jardim se encheu de um rancor hediondo!”



Just then the gardener noticed the daisy with its bright

and happy face. “Dear little daisy,” the gardener

asked, “why is it that you are still so cheerful when all

my other plants are sad?”

“Well,” said the daisy, “I know I’m just a small daisy,

but this morning this thought came to me – if you’d

wanted a different flower or tree instead of me, you

would’ve made that your plan. But since you planted

me, I’m determined to be the best little daisy I can!”

“Mas que vejo aqui!” O jardineiro exclamou. “É alguém que sorri! Margarida e seu rosto redondo! Como és feliz assim, apesar da amargura que

assola o jardim?” A margarida disse: “Sei que sou pequenina e estavapensando assim, se você escolhesse um pinheiro ou um mamoeiro, plantaria assim. Mas a mim me plantou, então agora eu vou tentar dar sempre o melhor de mim!”



“My flowers and trees,” said the gardener,

“you ought to be ashamed! Even though this

daisy is so small, she’s not whiny, but is

grateful and glad for how she is made!”

All the plants that had been complaining

said, “Never again will be grumble and gripe

about how we were made. We’ll be content

and thankful from now on.”

O jardineiro falou: “Minhas plantas tristonhasdeviam ter vergonha! Vejam só esta flor! Mesmo humilde e modesta, ela nunca

protesta e está sempre de bom humor!” Todas as plantas disseram: “Nãoreclamaremos, tampouco iremos chorar. Em vez de protestarmos por sermos assim,seremos alegres também, e felizes com o que a gente tem!”



Be happy with what you have and don’t try to be

something you are not. Instead of comparing with

others around, cheer up and be happy, be the best thatyou can be, and be thankful for all that you have.

É melhor ser feliz com o que você tem e não tentar ser outro alguém. Ao invés de estar sempre a se comparar,a história nos mostra tão bem; seja alegre e feliz, dê o

melhor de si, agradecido pelo que você tem!
