PRAYER FOR PROTECTION AGAINST DANGER.

Mother of Jesus, be our protector and defender against all that is harmful or evil. Bring our needs before Almighty God, that we may be surrounded by God’s Holy Angels, and given the grace to conquer every danger and overcome all that would threaten our health and well being. Be for us light in times of darkness, strength when we are weak, wisdom in our confusion, healing in times of illness, and courage to work through life’s problems and difficulties. Give us joy when we are sad, bread to feed our hunger, and eternal life to de-feat the power of death. Virgin Mary, guide our life-journey, so that we may always walk safely together with you and your Di-vine Son, Jesus Christ, in God’s loving friendship.

† Amen

PRAYER AND REFLECTION

4th Sunday of Lent

March 22, 2020

INTRODUCTION As we continue our journey through this season of Lent,

we are met with the question of who is worthy in God’s eyes. Based on false expectations the Israelites and the Pharisees never thought David would be chosen king or that Jesus would heal the man born blind. Worthiness may be found not in reputation or pedigree or appearance, but in one’s heart.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Let us pray now for ourselves and for all who need to be seen with God’s eyes.

For the church and for all believers: May be open to seeing and witnessing God’s light in others...as a penitent people, we pray,

For all who make peace with others...as a penitent people, we pray,

For those who judge others without seeing their inner goodness...as a penitent people, we pray,

For the courage to challenge false judgement or gossip in our daily lives...as a penitent people, we pray,

For openness to new ideas, even when it is uncomfortable...as a penitent people, we pray,

For parents, educators, mediators, counselors and all who work to promote deeper understanding...as a penitent people, we pray,

For those who have never felt understood or appreciated...as a penitent people, we pray,

For the candidates preparing for full membership in the church...as a penitent people, we pray,

For those among us who are sick; for those who gone before us and now see the eternal light of Christ...as a penitent people, we pray,

PRAYER: God of surprises, invite us to see your presence in others. Though we may be blind to the good in others, help us to see and love them as you would wish. We ask this in the name of Jesus, the ultimate healer. Amen.

<< In these days, let us add something

beyond the usual measure of our service, such as private prayers and abstinence in food and drink. Let each of us, over and above the measure prescribed, offer God something of our free will in the joy of the

Prayer from Pope Francis for Healing from Coronavirus

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the ross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God . Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

HOLY FAMILY PARISH FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT

Eu creio, Senhor!

IV Dom. Quaresma (Ano A): 1 Sm 16, 1b. 6-7. 10-13a; Sl 22 (23); Ef 5, 8-14; Jo 9, 1-41

Fui, lavei-me e comecei a ver (v.11).
