Gauteng North (89%), EkurhuleniNorth and Tshwane North (88%) hadthe highest Matric pass rates in 2012.
The district with the lowest percentage Matric pass rate was Fort Beaufort with49% followed by Mt Frere with 50%.
The figures below eacheducation district indicatethe 2012 Matric pass rateas well as 2011 pass rate(in brackets).

Bachelor Pass
For a Bachelors pass, learners must:
• Obtain at least 40% for their Home Language • Obtain at least 50% for four other High Credit subjects • Obtain at least 30% for two other subjects • Meet the language requirement for further study at a
South African institution, namely, one of the two official languages offered by learner must be either English or Afrikaans
To meet the language criterion to qualify for entry to study at a tertiary education institution, the learner must pass either English or Afrikaans at least at the 1st additional level i.e. at 30% or more.
