venientes das reações 0 (d , n) 3He (2,65 MeV) e T(d, n)'*He ( H , 7 MeV) .
ABSTRACT
A sandwich type spectrometer with Li is a system consist-
ing of two surface barrier detectors assembled face tc face and a
LiF film, which is the sensitive material to n e u t r o n s , placed
between them.
The alpha and triton particles resulting from the reaction
6 ^Li (n, a) H are.detected by a coincidence system and can furnish
some information about the neutron energy.
in the assembly were used comercial surface barrier de -
tectors (Si(Au)} the LiF was evaporated by vacuum onto a film of
Formvar ?nd afterwards over the surface of one of the detectors ,
with a LiF thickness of 0,2 iim(50 y g / c m 2 ) and 1,5 ym(lt00 jig/cm2)
respect i vely.
Tests were made with slow neutrons and with neutrons from
the reactions D (d, n ) 3 H e (2,65 MeV) and T (d, n ) % e ( U MeV) .
The energy resolution for thermal neutrons was about 200
keV (FWHM) for the sum (Et + E Q) and about 7 keV (FWHM) for the
difference (E£ - E ) with an evaluated efficiency of 5,5x10 ,
for the sum. For the 2,65 MeV n e u t r o n s , the energy resolution was
about 240 keV (FWHM) and an evaluated efficiency was 2,1x10*^. It
was not possible to detect 1b MeV n e u t r o n s .

ções He (n,p) e B(n,ot), apresentando ainda uma ressonância pa-
(9)as variações nao sao grandes , e o erro introduzido no calculo

0,5 cm do alvo
tro. 0 processo era repetido com o outro detetor. A operação era
feita novamente após a irradiação com neutrons. Desta forma tfnha
mos também uma boa c a U b r a ç ã o em energia.
3. Resultados
a) Neutrons lentos
dobramento do espectro do trftio ("unfolding") * ' 3 'I5 >2 ' » 6 9 >7^ .
do as partículas atravessam o filme plástico.

As re_
ações do "background" que possuem maior probabilidade de contribuir
para o aparecimento dos picos são:
a) 2 8 S i ( n , d ) 2 7 Al (pico ã i» k ,2 MeV) e
b) 2 8 S i ( n , a ) 2 5 Mg (pico a M 1 , 5 MeV)
Devido ã diferença de espessuras ,so

CANAL•ESPECTRO DA SOMA EM COINCIDÊNCIA , D£VILO A REAÇÕES SECUNDARIAS COM NEUTRONS DE 14,7 MeV("BACKGROUND")
26
significan te , segundo o Instruction Manual Surface Barrier Detec-
tors (ORTEC).
lhável o uso do desdobramento do espectro do tritio ("unfolding")
