  • Your child has participated in lessons and activities thru sharing, interacting, leading and supporting. 41. Your child has also participated in lessons based upon the library series Help Me To Be Good with emphasis upon respect to others, being polite and being responsible for ones actions. 42. Currently your child demonstrates respect towards peers, adults, and school property. 43. Future lessons and activities will continue to support opportunities that will further develop self confidence, independence, and self respect.

Physical Development and Health

  • Your child has had the opportunity to participate in obeying safety rules established by the group for work and play. 44. Your child participates in martial arts two times per week (Tues. /Fri.), dance experiences two times per week (Mon. /Fri.), and daily playground exploration. 45. Your child participates daily in a combination of developmentally appropriate work, play, and rest activities that provide for maximum learning and healthy growth and development.

Math
Your child has had the opportunity to participate in the following mathematical concepts, activities, and skills:

  • how many, rote counting (1-31),recognition of numerals/number 1-5), recognition of basic shapes, categorize/sort objects, sequencing, location, more or less, patterns with up to four parts, alike/different, whole/half, skip counting (by 2, 5, 10, 100), one-to-one correspondent, time by the hour, monthly/daily calendar reading, reading the classroom timeline, using mathematical language (next, first, last, heavy, light, taller, short, older, younger etc), number words one through five, measurement using standard measuring spoons and cups, construction of large floor puzzles (24-36 pieces), simple word problems, analyze data, simple addition plus 1-3 and simple subtraction take away 1-3), build models (Lego and unit blocks), and playing games of bingo (by color/shape) and memory.

Language arts

  • Your child is afforded the opportunity to participate in daily activities of reading the classroom time line, listening, pre-writing skills, and speaking. Your child has been exposed to literature at least three times per day through adult selections. Your child has daily opportunities to independently explore the various literature works found within the classroom. 46. Your child has had the opportunity to participate in language arts activities that include: letter recognition, letter-sound relationship, printing and using line/shape, rhyming sounds, retelling, dramatization of stories, draw to record ideas/thoughts/answers, show sequence with pictures/drawings, make predictions, answer questions for comprehension, naming/ reading days of the week words, color words, beginning sight words and Spanish language experiences (once per week/Wednesday). 47. Your child will continue to participate in all current language activities and future language arts concepts will include: story elements and story sequence.

Social Studies

  • Your child has had the opportunity to participate in citizenship through daily classroom leadership activities. 48. Your child has participated in activities under the theme All About Me, with emphasis upon first opportunities to share in front of a group (peers) information about self and family. 49. Your child successfully participated in activities that focused upon Our World, with emphasis on special classroom event, United Nations Day celebration. 50. Your child interacted with maps, globes, travel and picture atlas references, and puzzle maps of the United States and the world and shared information about the country.

Science

  • Your child has successfully participated in the following theme/units during this Fall 2010 reporting and collection period: My five Senses, Classroom pet (hermit crab), Seasons (summer/autumn), Earth Science (continents /oceans), The Four Winds (north, south, east, west), Cooking, and Nutritional Health (daily food group focus using school menu).


  • Future themes and units for next reporting period winter 2011 will include: Float/Sink, Space, Cooking, The Season Winter, Living/Nonliving, Seeds, Dinosaurs, Use of scientific tools, and Magnets.

Art

  • Your child participates in daily classroom opportunities: to use tools for drawing/writing and exploring elements of lines and strokes, move/dance to various types of music, listen to various types of music, sing seasonal / group songs, and dance following a sequence and series of steps. 51. Your child has been afforded the opportunity to participate in musical experiences involving group singing two times per week (Mon. /Thurs.) 52. Your child will continue to participate in current and future art activities that will include: rhythm instruments, learning new songs, and responding to the creative expressions of others.
