Interrogative Pronouns So os pronomes que indicam um elemento dentro de um conjunto, mas que no se define. Estes pronomes so usados em ingls para fazer perguntas abertas, ou seja, perguntas que no podem ser respondidas com "sim" ou "no". So chamados de question words ou wh-words, uma vez que quase todos comeam por Wh. What (O qu, Qual (s se refere a coisas inanimadas ou animais). Refere-se a um nmero ilimitado de elementos). What would you like to have? Who (Quem (refere-se a pessoas)) Who bought that magazine? When (Quando) When were you born? Where (Onde) Where are you going? Why ((Por que) Why usado para fazer perguntas, Because para respondlas). Why did you lie to her? Because I had to. Whose (pronuncia-se huz) (De quem (refere-se a pessoas)) Ele tem uma estrutura diferente do portugus. seguido pelo substantivo em ingls. Whose car is that? Which ( (Qual). seletivo e se refere a um nmero limitado de elementos). Which car do you prefer: a BMW or a Volkswagen? Which do you prefer: coffee or tea?

How (pronuncia-se hau) (Como) How are you? NOTE: 1. Quando a pergunta feita sobre o sujeito da orao, no se usa verbo auxiliar. Who usado para pessoas e what para coisas. Who broke that window? A collision between two cars. 2.Whom usado no ingls formal e se refere ao objeto direto ou indireto da orao. Por isso, tambm formal o uso de whom precedido de preposio. Whom did you meet? To whom did you give the letter? 4. No ingls informal as preposies geralmente vm no final da frase em perguntas interrogativas. What is that for? Where is your family from? Who are you looking at?

Simple Past (Passado Simples) O pretrito (ou passado) um tempo verbal muito utilizado por ns para dar notcias ou contar fatos que j aconteceram. No ingls, no deixa de ser diferente. Para utilizar o Simple Past de maneira correta no ingls, os verbos sofrem algumas mudanas. Eles podem ser regulares e irregulares: Verbos Regulares Os verbos regulares so aqueles em que s acrescentamos o -ed no final do verbo. Washed Kissed Porm, no s acrescentar ed no final de todos os verbos regulares, no Simple Past h excees: - nos verbos terminados em y precedido de consoante, perdem o y e ganham ied. O Verbo Auxiliar para o Simple Past o Did, que usado na negativa e na interrogativa. Vejamos a seguir: - Negativa Para usarmos frases negativas no Simple Past, acrescentamos o verbo auxiliar did+not (ou na forma abreviada, didnt). O verbo que vir a seguir na frase aps o modal, continua no infinitivo sem o to: I didnt go to the supermarket. - (Eu no fui para o supermercado) - Interrogativa Para fazermos perguntas no Simple Past, usamos o verbo auxiliar did tanto no incio de uma pergunta, ou junto com alguma wh-word. O verbo que vir a seguir na pergunta aps o modal, continua no infinitivo, mas tambm sem o to: Did she go to the Bobs party? - (Ela foi para a festa do Bob?) What did they eat for dinner? - (O que eles comeram na janta?) Why did you travel? - (Por que voc viajou?) - Verbo Modal O verbo modal can, no simple past, fica could + verbo no infinitivo sem o to. Na negativa, acrescentamos o could+not (ou couldnt): I could sleep here. - (Eu podia dormir aqui) Anomalous Verb: To Be O verbo to be no Simple Past tambm um verbo irregular e tambm funciona como auxiliar.
