Henri Cartier-Bresson (22 de Agosto de 1908 - 3 de agosto de 2004) foi um dos mais importantes fotógrafos do século XX, considerado por muitos como o pai do Fotojornalismo. Bresson nasceu em Chanteloupe - França Filho de pais de uma clas-se média relativamente abastada. Quando criança ganhou uma câ-mera fotográfica Box Brownie, onde produziu inúmeros instantâneos. Sua obsessão pelas imagens o levou a testar uma câmera de filme 35mm. Além disto, Bresson também pintava e foi para Paris estudar artes em um estúdio. Em 1931, aos 22 anos, Cartier-Bresson viajou à África onde passou um ano como caçador. Porém, uma doença tropical obrigou-o a retornar à França. Foi neste período, durante uma viagem a Marselha, que ele descobriu verdadeiramente a fotografia, inspirado por uma fotografia do húngaro Martin Munkacsi. Quando eclodiu a Segunda Guerra Mundial, Bresson serviu o exército francês. Durante a invasão alemã, Bresson foi capturado e levado para um campo de prisioneiros de guerra. Tentou por duas vezes escapar e somente na terceira obteve sucesso. Se juntou à Resistência France-sa em sua guerrilha pela liberdade. Quando a paz se reestabeleceu, Cartier-Bresson, em 1947, fundou a agência fotográfica Magnum jun-

Revistas como a Life, Vogue e Harper`s Bazaar o contrataram para viajar o mundo e registrar imagens únicas. Da Europa aos Estados Unidos, da Índia à China, Bresson estava dando o seu ponto de vista especialíssimo. Tornou-se também o primeiro fotógrafo da Europa Ocidental a registrar a vida na União Soviética de maneira livre. Fotografou os últimos dias de Gandhi e os eunucos imperiais chineses logo após a Revolução Cultural. Na década de 50, vários livros com seus trabalhos foram lançados, sendo o mais importante deles “Images à la Sauvette”, publicado em inglês sob o título “The Decisive Moment” (1952). Em 1960, uma megaexposição com quatrocentos trabalhos rodou os Estados Unidos em uma ho-menagem ao nome forte da fotografia.Morreu em Céreste, França em 3 de agosto de 2004, aos 95 anos.Eis uma singela coleta de alguns trabalhos que a equipe da Gestual teve o maior prazer em coletar para você.

The Parisian pair Antoine et Manuel call them-

selves “image directors;” “Antoine is more intuiti-

ve and Manuel more conceptual, but sometimes

the roles are totally reversed.” They are best

known for their highly patterned cultural posters

and designs for labels such as Lacroix and

Habitat, as well as their shop window displays

for the Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

The artists of Project FOX are young creatives that do not make their way

through traditional institutions but rather through alternative platforms like

street art and character design. A curator board selected artists present in

everyday life and who’s work reflects parts of urban life.

The work style of the artists and artist groups varied widely. Some only

used spray-paint, others materials such as photocopies or pre-produced

work. The graphic designers among them developed digitally and had

for example rugs and wallpaper printed. Others painted or glued objects

directly to the wall. Through a successful mix of try-and-error and professi-

onalism a unique patchwork of life blueprints was created.

Especially the fact that most artist were working on location at the same

time heightened the motivation and influenced the atmosphere at the

’construction site’ positively and led to new friendships, co-operations,

and connections. Relationships that will keep the thought of the project

alive long after the event in Copenhagen and that will encourage new

creativity and cooperative projects.

roots in the underground world of American co-

mics and imagery. His dynamic and expressive

drawings, which are mostly started by hand and

then finished digitally, can be seen in various

publications such as Weltwoche, Soda and DU.

They also frequently grace the posters for the

Berlin avant-garde theatre, the Schaubühne.
