Aos verbos que terminam em e mudo, acrescenta-se somente d.

arrive – arrived

Aos verbos que terminam em consoante + vogal + consoante, normalmente duplicasse a consoante

final e acrescenta-se edPlan – planned stop – stopped

Nos verbos que terminam em consoante + y, o y passa a i, acrescentando-se, depois, ed.
