Cobalto-17 — the first Gin produced in the Douro —

pays homage to this region of sublime landscapes,

witnesses to the power of nature and the determina-

this land, to extract from its unique treasures,

which are not depleted in their famous wines.

Combining traditional production methods with a

selection of botanicals dominated by species that

are part of the Douro landscape, Cobalto-17 is, in its

essence, a celebration of the Douro, of its extraordinary

of years, and the customs of the people who live here.

Totally produced in the Douro region, winegrowing

by tradition and justified excellence, Cobalto-17 has

Cobalto-17 é um Gin premium, que se destaca pelo

sedutor aroma, fresco e simultaneamente frutado;

e por um final surpreendentemente longo.

Milhares de microdestilações, experimentando

centenas de combinações de botânicos, apuraram

o inconfundível sabor deste Gin, que, ao incontornável

zimbro, junta outros cinco botânicos: as ervas lúcia-

-lima e hortelã-pimenta combinam-se para conferir

frescura ao Cobalto-17, ao mesmo tempo que

as uvas da casta Tinta Amarela, sobejamente utilizada

na produção vinícola duriense, se aliam à pêra

para lhe garantir o distintivo carácter frutado;

o longo e surpreendente final de boca deve-se

a uma especiaria, o cardamomo.

O método de produção do Cobalto-17 é integralmente

artesanal. O Gin é destilado em alambique tradicional,

com infusões de 24 horas e destilação individual de cada

um dos seis botânicos. Após três filtragens, é finalmente

engarrafado manualmente, repousando depois por 17

dias, de forma a apurar e estimular aromas e sabores.

A rotulagem, também manual, confere unicidade

a cada garrafa.

Este processo garante ao Cobalto-17 a integridade

de um Gin clássico e, simultaneamente, a irreverência

de um Gin de nova geração. É, assim, uma bebida

que evoca perfeitamente a essência do Douro actual,

uma região sedutora, cosmopolita e aberta ao mundo,

que se mantém representante digna e orgulhosa

da sua herança e das suas tradições.

Cobalto-17 is a premium Gin, which stands out

because of its seductive flavour, both fresh and fruity

at the same time, and by a surprisingly long aftertaste.

Thousands of micro-distillations, trying out hundreds

of combinations of botanicals, determined the

unmistakable flavour of this Gin, that, along with the

inescapable juniper, combines five more botanicals:

the peppermint and verbena leaves combine to add

freshness to Cobalto-17, while the grapes of the Tinta

Amarela grape variety, amply used in Douro wine

production, combines with the pear to guarantee

the distinctive fruity character; and the long

and surprising aftertaste is due to a spice,

cardamom.

The method of producing Cobalto-17 is totally

traditional. The Gin is distilled in a traditional still,

with 24-hour infusions and individual distillation

of each of its six botanicals. After three filtrations,

it is finally bottled by hand, and allowed to rest

for 17 days, in order to define and stimulate the

aromas and tastes. The labelling, also done

manually, confers uniqueness to each bottle.

This process guarantees to Cobalto-17 the integrity

of a classic Gin and, at the same time, the irreverence

of a next generation Gin. This is, therefore, a drink

that evokes perfectly the essence of the current Douro,

a region that is seductive, cosmopolitan and open

to the world, and that remains a worthy and proud

representative of its heritage and its traditions.

After a guided tour of the distillery, with

demonstrations and a detailed explanation of the

traditional production method, our guests will have

the opportunity to taste Cobalto-17, discovering its

freshness, irreverence and sensuality, while at the

same time contemplating, in this unique scenario,

the spectacle of a sunset over the Douro.
