The Zoological Society of East Anglia (ZSEA) wanted to cut down on the maintenance costs within their facilities. The majority of their grounds were timber structures and they were finding the costs of maintaining these areas to safe and attractive standards was proving far too costly. Weathering and regular use has caused rotting and decay of their timber structures. They were also looking for a product which would not splinter in order to avoid injury to both the animals and visitors.
