A responsabilidade ÉTICA deve evitar o ABUSO do PODER
Confiabilidade: Não usar os dados até que sejam apresentados/publicados;
Honestidade: Desconhece o assunto?
Sou Pontual? Farei em 3 semanas? Sou propenso a perder coisas? MS não pode ser
perdido!!
Sylvia, L& Herbel Jo, 2001
Smith, JA, 1999
Revisão do Manuscrito - Sugestões
Revisão do Manuscrito - Sugestões1. IMPORTÂNCIA: Introdução – há justificativa? Em que
nicho se insere? É uma idéia inovadora? A hipótese tem potencial para ser relevante?
A hipótese já foi avaliada antes? Há justificativa para re-avaliação? Trabalho inovador deve ser estimulado.
2. Metododologia: Tipo de estudo?Transversal, observacional, caso controle? Delineamento?
Revisão do Manuscrito - Sugestões
3. Resultados: Estão bem apresentados? São todos eles importantes? Resultados principais ou secundarios?
4. Discussão: A discussão está baseada nos resultados? A citação de literatura é pertinente? As limitações do estudo estão apresentadas?
5. Conclusão: Está baseada nos resultados? Repete os resultados?
Cuidado com citação da Literatura
Dá suporte a justificativa da pesquisa? A interpretação da literatura está correta?
Relato da Revisão do Manuscrito
Seja sincero e gentil. 9.
2. O objetivo do trabalho e´ significativo?3.
e completas?
1. Título do MS – Sugeriu modificação? Cuidado!2. Sumario do MS. 01 Parágrafo (3 a 4 linhas);3.

Statement of problem. Acrylic dentures are susceptible to fracture after clinical use. The repair procedure should be time saving, strong, and not affect dimensional accuracy.Purpose. This study evaluated the transverse repair strength of a conventional heat-polymerized (Lucitone 199, “L”) and a microwave-polymerized (Acron MC, “A”) acrylic resin repaired with these resins and with an autopolymerizing acrylic resin (Acron MC/R, “AR”).Material and methods. Twenty-four rectangular specimens (65.0 ×10.0 × 3.3 mm) of L or A and 6 of AR were manufactured according to ISO/FDI 1567 and stored in distilled water at 37oC for 7 days. Eighteen specimens of L or A were selected randomly. Six specimens of each material remained intact (control) while each 6 were sectioned in the middle to create a 10 mm gap and repaired with the materials L, A, or AR. After an additional 7 days of storage at 37oC, the transverse strength (MPa) of the repaired and intact specimens was measured using a 3-point bending test. A 2-way ANOVA and a Tukey HSD test were performed to find significant differences (α=.05). Results. The intact and repaired specimens showed similar transverse strength values (MPa), except for A-intact (80.6 ± 2.9), which was statistically stronger (P<.05) than the other materials tested, as well as the repaired groups (P<.05). No differences were detected among the repaired groups. The most common failure detected was the mixed type at the bond site and repair material.[Unclear—rephrase]
Exemplos de revisão
However, recent developments in processing methods and materials may result in
strengths superior to those previously reported. For example, the use of air
pressure and low heat have been reported to reduce the porosity of chemically
accelerated materials, thus increasing the repair strength.6 Additionally,
associations [what does the author mean by ‘associations’?] between different
denture base-repair material and the use of chemical solvents such as chloroform
can affect the final repair strength.2,13,14
RESULTS
A 2-way analysis of variance was used to test for differences among the
groups (Table II). The factors denture base material and repair material
were detected as sources of variation.[Indicate if the differences were
significant or not, if so, provide the P values.]
Exemplos de revisão
RESULTS: The intact and repaired specimens showed similar transverse strength values,
except for the intact microwave-polymerized acrylic resin (A), which was significantly
stronger (P>.05) than the other intact materials, as well as than the repaired groups (P<.05).
[ If A was significantly different from the repaired groups shouldn’t the P value reflect this?]
No differences were detected among the repair methods.
The type and frequency of failures for repaired specimens are presented
in Table IV. The specimens revealed 3 types of failures, adhesive
(interface), cohesive in the repair material and mixed at the bond site
and repair material, which was the most common type for adhesive
failures. [This sentence is unclear—rephrase] Only 1 repaired specimen
showed a pure adhesive failure. All of the cohesive failures occurred in
the repair material.

Discussion: However, it is important to emphasize the difference in composition
between Lucitone 550 and Lucitone 199 with the presence of rubber particles in
the latter. [Provide a reference or indicate manufacturer purporting this.]
In this [which study? The present study?] study, the autopolymerizing
Differences in material composition and experimental protocols may explain this finding. However, it should be emphasized that almost all repair strength values detected in the present study were within the minimum limits (60 to 65 MPa) required by ISO/FDIS 156715 for denture base polymers. [Repeats information stated on previous page—delete.]
Exemplos de revisãoYour paper entitled: "Effect of denture cleansers on biofilm accumulation on acrylic resin and on surface roughness" has been reviewed by two experts within the field.
We regret to inform you that your manuscript has been rejected based on the priority scores and the serious critique raised in the referees' reports.
The referees have made the following comments on your manuscript: The paper proposed to evaluate the effect of dentures cleansers on biofilmaccumulation and on surface roughness of acrylic resin. The aim of the study is very relevant, the clinical design of the study is adequate,
the description of the model of biofilm sampling directly in the oral cavity is very interesting. [ Aspectos fortes do MS]Unfortunately, the choice of the experimental method for the evaluation of the
quality and the quantity of the biofilm formed on the surface acrylic resin for sampling is very surprising and absolutely inadequate and strongly affect the quality of the results. [ bobagem]1. the evaluation of biofilm formation by measuring total protein and expressed as optical density (OD) values is non-suitable method since it has been never been validated in in vitro assays2. OD at 280 nm measures not only proteins but also nucleic acids. 3. It is not reported what is the chemical effect of the experimental treatments on the resin itself. Treatment of the resin with the 1M NaOH may interact with the chemical components of the acrylic resin and interfere with reading of OD at 280nm. [ bobagem]
Exemplos de revisão
There is not any relationships between total protein measurement of and the quantity of formed biofilm. 5. Given the appreciable efforts that the authors put to develop this model to collect intact biofilm, it would have been very interesting and more judicious to compare the microbial and architectural nature of biofilmsformed by microscopy, and thus to provide the proof of differences between the two treatments.6. Since the aim of the study was to quantify the formed biofilm, the authors could have quantify the total oral bacteria on acrylic resin by of a total colony count, or by a semi-quantitative method as by amplification of bacterial DNA by using universal 16 RNA probe.7.The presentation of the results is very ambiguous and incomprehensible. 8. At page 10 of the manuscript, the authors reported that their results were in agreement with previous studies (references 18, 19 and 20) published respectively in 1995 and 1997, so what was the interest to conduct the present study???
We wish you the best of luck with your work elsewhere.

Dear Dr Del Bel Cury
Thank you for submitting manuscript #16530, entitled “Accuracy of fit, impact strength and
fracture morphology of acrylic resin polymerized by microwave energy.” The Journal is
interested in reviewing your manuscript and considering it for publication. Unfortunately, I
must return the file to you for the reasons outlined below.
I read all manuscripts before assigning them for review. All of our reviewers are volunteers
and serve without compensation, so I am reluctant to ask them to review a manuscript that
does not meet the standards contained in our Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts. Our
experience with such manuscripts is that they often result in frustration for both reviewers
and authors, which delays the publishing process.
Please respond to the following comments and recommendations:
•Please find the Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts attached to this file for your benefit.
Please read it carefully to make sure that your revision complies with all policies outlined
therein. Failure to comply may result in delays in the review process and/or rejection of the
manuscript.

Statement of problem. Effects of different polymerization cycles may affect final denture adaptation, mechanical properties and micro structural behavior of denture base resins. [Not specific to study. State as a specific problem.]Purpose. This study evaluated the accuracy of fit, impact strength, and fracture morphology of microwave polymerized acrylic resin processed by an alternative polymerization cycle. Material and methods. A metal master cast simulating an edentulous maxillary arch was used to fabricate 20 denture bases [from what material?]with 2mm thickness. Ten of them were processed………………….Data were submitted to ANOVA [what type?]and means compared by t test, Wilcoxon Mann-Whitney test and Pearson’s coefficient at a confidence level of 95% . Results. Polymerization cycles showed no differences for accuracy fit, impact strength and angular analysis. However, 30 days after water storage denture bases showed better fit [significant or not?].

Decisão Final de MS
REVIEWER COMMENTS TO AUTHOR:Reviewer: 1 The MS entitled “Adhesive properties of oral Candida albicans strains to epithelial ......” is an interesting manuscript and brings novel additional information about C albicans adhesion. However, some questions should be addressed.1. The English should be revised by a native speaker. 2. Abstract: Conclusion: These properties…… Which properties are the authors referring for? Adherence? “…and to resist to antifungal treatment and oral wash solution (mouthwash)”. It was not evaluated. So, this conclusion is not corrected.Significance and Impact of the Study: The way that it is written, it is ambiguous and incomprehensible; it should be rewritten in order to offer some inference for readers. 3. Introduction: this section like abstract should be rewrite. In general it is confusing, there are some sentences or fragment that they do not have connection between them.Line 81 and 82: There are two conflicting information. (Line 81) …., Candida cells are mixed with saliva and can adhere and growth. Line 82…. growth conditions in the oral cavity are so poor that cells can adhere. (Cannon, Chaffin, 1999). These authors affirmed that “Growth conditions ……….that cells have to adhere to be maintained.Line 84: This sentence does not make sense the way it is written. It can be deleted.
REVIEWER COMMENTS TO AUTHOR:Reviewer 2:General Comments: The stated purpose of the present study was to investagiate the ability of oral Candida albicans isolates to (1) form biofilm on polymethymrthacrylate, (2) to adhere to to Caco-2 and Hep-2 epithelial cells and to (3) produce exopolysaccharide. This paper does not contain any substantive new data or new insights into the ability of C. albicans to adhere to cells or artificialsubstrates, including denture materials, or form biofilm. Several previous studies have shown that Candida adherence to human cells, to cells lines and to artificial substrates is multifactorial and can be influenced by growth conditions and the type of medium used to culture the organisms. It has also been shown that human isolates show a range of adherence ability and a range of ability to produce extracellular polysaccharide. Some C. albicans isolates are better at forming biofilm than others.Individual comments:(1). The manuscript is poorly written and lacks clarity. I appreciate the difficulties experienced by authors whose first language is not English in preparing scientific manuscripts for publication in the English language. May I suggest thatthe authors seek the assistance of a colleague(s) who is experienced at writing scientific manuscripts in English to edit their manuscript for clarity and impact? (2). There is a lot of detail in the Materials and methods relating to the identification of oral C. albicans isolates. This material can be drastically reduced and reference made to previously published methods (e.g. section 2.2.2). Figure 1 should be deleted.
